38 & 39 Week Update: Pregnancy #3

Happy Wednesday! If you missed my post on Monday about my living room makeover, be sure to check it out. It’s quite the change for cosmetic makeovers. I’m so happy with it so far and can’t wait to add more to it. It was good to get done before our next baby comes along. Speaking of…

I’m going to keep this short today and give a brief update since my 37 week update/appointment. Last update, I was 3cm dilated, but no effacing. A brief history of my births…

Birth #1 - I might have dilated to a 1 or 2 at my previous appointments when my water broke 11 days before due date. He was born via c-section because of breech. Water broke, went to hospital and then did c-section.

Birth #2 - Dilated to 2cm at 38 and 39 appointment, 50% effaced. Contractions started 5 days prior to due date and had him the next day via VBAC after 25 hours of labor and 2.5 hours of pushing. Went into hospital at 2cm.

Now on to this one…

At my 38 week appointment, I was still 3cm, but now 50% effaced. In between that appointment and the one I had yesterday (39), I’ve had more contractions and pressure.

I go in yesterday for my 39 week appointment (I’m 39 weeks 4 days today) and I’m now 4cm dilated and 50% effaced and -1 station (if you know what that means…just means head is closer to delivery). I’m actually glad my body is doing all this early labor prior to the actual day of delivery because I’m hoping that means a shorter labor. My contractions are not painful at all, just a little more frequent. At one time I timed them as there were quite a few, but nothing was consistent.

The plan now is to break my water this Friday. At my 38 week appointment, my doctor said I was very ready and breaking water would send me into labor very easily. I do have the option to cancel it if I want, but she’s estimated to be rather large (which is probably the thing I’m terrified of the most). I’m certain that’s why Maddox was so hard to deliver (he was 9.1 lbs). The nurse yesterday, told me that if my water did end up breaking to rush in and not take my time since I was already 4cm. So, this Friday, I’ll be heading to the hospital to have a baby! I’m sure I’ll post updates on my Instagram stories if you’re interested in that (@oliviacsnyder).

Here are my weekly pictures:

The swelling in my hands and face have increased a lot and I’m most excited about that postpartum. I’m pretty uncomfortable, especially in the late afternoons/evenings after a long day, but I’m so pumped we’re almost at the end and I’ll be holding my sweet baby! The only thing we’re not prepared with is a NAME! Yep, still undecided!

So there ya have it, so close to the end. I can’t believe I’ll have 3 kids. The boys are really pumped to meet her.
