I’m so excited about this post today. Two things I love…Starbucks coffee and frugality! We all know those two things don’t really go together. I love me some Starbucks but my gosh, they’re expensive. My tall drinks cost at least $4.32! I figured it can’t be too hard to make at home. So after some trial and error, I found a caramel macchiato recipe that tastes so similar to the one I always get at Starbucks. I shared this photo on Instagram and I’m definitely not the only one who loves this drink but hates the price.
Ingredients:
-1 cup cold or room temp coffee (I use Folgers original) *I typically prefer milder coffees, but this drink does well with a stronger coffee (which is probably regular for everyone else)
-1/4 cup milk (I’ve used whole and skim…obviously the whole tastes better) *Half n half or cream would work too
-2 heaping teaspoons Salted Caramel syrup (I found mine at Walmart)
-1 Truvia packet (this really is key to the sweetness)
-1 Tbsp caramel topping (the kind for ice cream) *This is optional, but I mean c’mon!
-Ice
Directions:
I pour in my coffee, milk, salted caramel syrup, and Truvia and stir them together. Then I stir in the caramel. Next fill the cup with ice. I like to drizzle the top with more caramel syrup.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Now I’m on to figure out how to make some more of my favorites from Starbucks.
