Christmas Décor 2014

It’s super busy around here, but I’m taking a few minutes to show you my Christmas décor.  My mom came over last week during the Thanksgiving break and spent a day with me, helping me decorate.  Ryan took Beckham out for a bit and we got busy.

I like to keep it pretty simple and decorate a few main areas.  Mainly because I loathe taking it all down.  There really aren’t a lot of interchangeable spaces to decorate, but I do love our house during Christmas.  Let me preface by saying I do not like how these pictures turned out, but I had to take them late at night so the lighting is not the best.  It’s so much prettier in person.

First of all, yes, I know that says Thanksgiving, but I was trying it out in that spot and will replace it with one of my Christmas signs.  I do like it better with the gold framed art.  This is right when you walk in the house.  For the past 6 years, I’ve used garland with lights in this space.  We switched it up this year and just have the red lit tree.  While I do love this look better, I NEED more light here.  Possibly on the right side to balance it out.

Without the frame.

When it’s a bit darker.  This is with no flash.

One of my favorite decorations…my bendable snowman!

This little guy hangs on the front door.

Then to your left is the dining room.  Can you spot Elf?  Our dining room has been our storage room so I kind of avoided this space, but did add some garland, lights and cottage houses that my mom gave me when I got a house.

IMG_1944

I’m actually going to retire this garland and replace it with that fake snow in between the cottages.  Maybe even have some lights in it.  But that’s for next year.  It’s a cheap garland and I think it’s seen its day.

Straight ahead from the front door sits our Christmas tree!  We’ve had our tree in several different spots depending on where our furniture is.  I am boring and decorate it with white lights and gold/red balls.  After Christmas is over, I might see if I can find some really good deals on tree decorations for next year.  I got this tree 50% off one year, post Christmas.

Then you’ve got our mantle.  My mom suggested hanging a wreath over the mirrors.  I love it (although looking at this pic, I need to lower it).  It’s gold, silver, and sparkly.  I really do love our mantle this year and the pictures do not do it justice.  I plan on replacing those stockings when I find some I absolutely love.  For now, they work and I’ll get them monogrammed soon in gold lettering.  I got those HEAVY bronze horns at Goodwill a long time ago for $7 each.  It was a steal.  And that Santa seat is from Cracker Barrel.

And you might have noticed our fireplace is covered with black foam board.  Beckham kept getting into the fire place and eating the nasty stuff inside, so we closed it up.  I told Ryan, I wanted to take that off this year, cover with a fire place screen, and have a fire!

I saw this wreath at Walmart and I just love it.  It goes on our garage door.

This is our guest bathroom (also boys’ bathroom).  That snowman used to be on our porch, but it kept falling over and looked dinky by itself, so my mom moved it into the bathroom and I’m in love.  I LOVE a wall light or night light in the bathroom and it gives off just enough light.  Every time I walk by, it makes me happy.  I think it’s funny that it says “Welcome” in the bathroom.  Oh well.

Beckham has a mini tree in his room with a Little People Nativity set.  He puts an ornament on the tree each night after we read our A Meaningful Christmas devotional.  By December 25, it will have 24 ornaments on it.  Side note: His room still needs so much decorating done…one day.  I think that’s my motto this year – “One Day”

In our kitchen, I have this wreath on our pantry door.

This gold sleigh sits by the coffee station.  I need to fill her up with some Rolos!

And this sign sits in the corner of our counters.

There you have it.  Our little home, with our perfect little decorations.  It’s not a lot, but I’m enjoying A SIMPLE LIFE remember?!  I feel so much warmth in my house this time of year!  There are tons of holiday scents smelling up our home as well!
I’m linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals for her Come On In series. I can’t wait to see everyone’s decorations!
Come On In

I love your home, and I love your "simple life" motto. I've enjoyed your blog for the message that you share with other mothers who may be comparing themselves to others (especially ones that they may see in blogs or other social media). Being a woman who honors Christ is more important.

I love your WalMart wreath! I've been looking for a cost-effective one for my front door. This may be the ticket!

Thank you so much. That is so sweet! The wreath was $15…more than I wanted to spend (I like buying my decor AFTER Christmas or at least on sale), but not bad compared to most prices. And I love it. It's the only Christmas decor I've bought this year, well plus some stocking holders.

I love white lights and simple ornaments on trees. I do white lights and red, green, and white decorations. Very pretty Christmas decorations!

Stopping by from Andrea's link-up. Enjoyed peeking at your house all decorated. I don't go all out either. I get out less and less of my decor each year. I think I am going to even get rid of a bunch too.
