Things have been crazy around here with my computer. I have had so many issues, therefore I haven’t been able to blog. I’ve also had some personal things heavy on my heart this month (nothing I’m sharing at this time), so it’s been a bit of a whirlwind. This is pretty much how I feel lately about technology!
But it’s time (past time) for me to share my goals for the month, as well as how I did in March (which is a joke). My results from March…
SLEEP – Get 7 hours of sleep. — Ok, so there were definite times I did this (especially over Spring Break when Ryan was home) and it felt amazing. I won’t say I feel like I accomplished more, but I definitely felt like my attitude was much more positive (i.e. not yelling at my kids as much…just keeping it real).
FAITH – Consistently read my Bible in the morning. I’m actually creating a space for this in my office. It will be cozy, ready for me to read (having materials ready to go), and quiet. — I did create this cozy little space in my office and I LOVE it. But I was about 50% successful with this goal.
BLOG – Stay on course with an online blogging course I’m taking, and so my goal is to complete the units and assignments. I finally invested in some classes that will teach me how to become a better blogger, etc. — I’m doing well with this course, but man, WordPress is much more difficult to learn. Now, it has much more of a chance to be successful, but there is a lot for me to learn. I’m a little behind in this course, but still “on-schedule” with it if that makes sense…Ruth (the instructor) says many bloggers will stop at certain points, depending on how far along their blog is, and that is me.
KIDS – Implement a chore chart. — Failed! Why is this so hard for me? Anyone have good chore charts for your kids?
HEALTH – Get back in the gym and/or run! Ultimately, I love the gym, but with two little ones it’s hard to be there every day. Now with my running jogger, I can at least go for a run with them. — Well, I was an idiot when I assembled my jogger INSIDE my house and now I can’t get it out of my house through the doors (too wide). I somehow need to take the wheel off to get it through the door and keep it in garage. Needless to say, I haven’t run.
HOUSE – Complete office so it’s workable. My goal is to create a feminine office, but the current furniture I have is not that…I’ve spent a lot of money lately on house things, so this may have to wait. I’d at least like to get into the new room and start working. My first goal with this room is to install the wood planks. If this doesn’t become a complete DIY fail, I’ll share this whole process with you and how I saved hundreds by doing it myself. Literally, every single detail and renovation has been done by ME! Sometimes a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. This has to work! If I get to our breakfast nook at all this month, it will be complete bonus. — This is where I was successful this month. I spent a lot of time on my office (and a couple of other projects). So my house is slowly adding spaces that I enjoy! The install of wood planks was very successful and I will share a tutorial of how I did it.
In addition to the above, my goal is to start my zone cleaning routine so I don’t feel overwhelmed. — Didn’t zone clean, but I did declutter quite a bit so that was a success.
APRIL GOALS:
Blogging:
All my goals will be related to the course I’m taking (Elite Blog Academy).
-Rewrite/Update my About page
-Set up Pages to have categorized posts for easy access (this is going to be challenging as it’s a technical aspect of blogging, which I hate…and am not good at)
-Add more Ads to popular posts
-Add popular posts to my sidebar
-Post Ideas I’d like to Publish: How to Install Wood Planks (for $150); Office Makeover Reveal; Before & After Pantry Organization; Small Bathroom Makeover; X-number of Benefits of Having a Smaller Home. Are there any topics/questions you are curious about…I’m pretty much an open book.
Personal:
-Get in at least 1 workout a day (5 days a week). I prefer the gym, but that’s super tough to get to with kiddos. I probably should do this in the morning since I’ve talked my way out of it by the afternoon.
-Complete my Feminine Office Makeover. This had made me so happy to have a place of my own, something a little girly. With a house full of boys, it’s a nice, fun place to retreat and get some work done or read a book.
-Complete my Pantry Makeover also. This was done on a whim, but I ended up going all out. I had to do it on a budget, but it looks amazing so far. I completed 95% of this project in almost 24 hours..and you won’t believe the difference! I have a few more finishing touches and it’ll be done!
-Create a Coffee Station. Y’all, I’m so excited about this. When we moved my desk into the previous playroom space, it opened up the wall in the breakfast nook. This space is so confusing to me and I’m still at a loss of what to do with the table space (y’all can help me), but I do know that I am adding a buffet to the wall and making it a coffee station. Our kitchen counter-top space is pretty small so this will free up some space since I’ll be moving my coffee pot.
-Start and implement a chore chart for Beckham. I think the 4 chores (he’s 4 years old so we decided to do 4) he’ll be responsible for are: Picking up his toys before rest time and bed time; Making his bed (as best he can); Taking his clothes to the laundry room before bed and sorting them; Turning off his closet light (he sleeps with it on) and his light/fan in the morning (Ryan does not like when we leave random lights on in the house, so this was his idea…which I think is a good one…it teaches him to not waste electricity when it’s not being used). Do you do chore charts with your kids? Do you give money for completing them?
-Finish reading Candace Cameron’s Shaping It All. I’m really liking this book. It’s about reshaping your physical and spiritual fitness.
-Start reading The Millionaire Next Door.
-Play around with my cleaning routine. This is a weird, loose goal, but I’m having a hard time figuring how best to clean my house. I have a cleaning routine chart that basically gives a good clean to one room/area a week with deep cleaning certain things once a month, but I am more of an all or nothing girl. I like to clean my house all in one day, but obviously, I can’t really do that these days. So, my goal is to see if I can find a good time to do the once a day cleaning (maybe morning).
-Get into a morning routine. I’m still thinking this one out in my head, but I’m adding it to my goals.
Joyful Art Designs:
-Add 1 sign a week to my shop. I really should be focusing on these goals more since this is my bread and butter financially, but somethings gotta give.
I have high hopes for April! Great weather, hubby home more, spring cleaning, and new decor in my house. Should be a great month!

I have a 13 month old so getting to the gym is hard! I feel ya!! I have had good luck with the 21 day fix DVDs. There is a workout for each day of the week and 30 minutes long. Totally doable! The DVDs are about $23 on Amazon 🙂 I thought I’d feel kind of lame doing a workout DVD but actually enjoy it.
I always enjoy reading your blog! Thanks for all your posts!

Thank you Melissa! I have heard of those videos so I might have to check them out and try them. It will atleast give me something to do if I can’t make it to the gym!

I don’t have a double jogging stroller so this may be a dumb or obvious question, but does it fold down? If so you could probably get it through the door that way, even if you have to have both you and your husband each take an end and flip it sideways. Just an idea!

It’s actually one of those bike trailers that also serves as a jogging stroller. My friend came over today and I think if I can take door off hinges then I can fit through door. I can’t fold down stroller or take the wheels off (that’s what’s causing it to be too wide). But, yes, normal jogging strollers do fold down usually.

Come to Baby boot camp class at Bonnie Wenk Park in McKinney. The class are great and you get a workout with cardio and running, etc. with your child in the stroller. It is way fun and meet other moms with kids the same age. I go with my 3 year old. You can message me if you want to try it.

Do “chore sticks”…it worked wonders for my kiddos! Two jars labeled “do” and “done”…and plus the kids enjoyed decorating the Popsicle sticks with the assigned chore in it! Love reading your blog!

My oldest son is 5 and does one chore a day (windex sliding doors, clean up shoe closet- put the shoes in the correct basket instead of the floor, etc) he gets at the end of the week and I use something I heard in dave ramsey book for kids – he puts xx amount in spend jar, xx amount in his give jar and the rest in his piggy bank.

Yes, I love the Spend, Give, Save idea of Ramsey’s. My son would love cleaning the window 🙂
