It’s been a long time since I’ve done a Day in the Life post, so I decided to do one last Friday. This ended up being a really relaxed (in a non-planned way) day. Ryan is usually gone on Friday but he came home for a couple of hours to see us before he had to go back and ref a game.
Here’s a little peek into our day…
I woke up at 8:00. That is a little later than I would like, but my kids sleep well into the morning, so if I need to sleep till 8, I can. They were still asleep at this time. Every morning, I start with the same 4 things: Bathroom, brush my teeth, wash my face, and moisturize.
And then I always make my bed if I’m not running late anywhere. Instantly makes the room so much cleaner.
Then I go into the kitchen to start a cup of coffee and put away dishes from the night before. These are dishes from the night before that I hand wash. I just let them air dry and put them up in the morning. I also unloaded the dishwasher.
At 8:30, as soon as my coffee was ready, I heard Maddox wake up, so I went in to get him. I change his diaper as soon as he wakes up and dress him. Every morning he likes to take his pillow and blanket into the living room and sit on the couch.
I put on a show for Maddox in the living room after getting him some milk and go into my office (in eye sight of living room) and do my devotional. Last year I did Jesus Calling and I decided to do another one of her devotionals. This season of life, I need something shorter than normal. I also read the Bible. I am going through Proverbs right now. I could read this book over and over for the rest of my life. It’s one of my favorite books in the Bible.
I love this little space in my office. I also planned a little in my planner.
Around 9:00, Beckham woke up (just as I was finishing) and I made them breakfast. I made the boys their favorite breakfast, cinnamon toast. I remember this as a little girl and I love making it for my kids too. I made myself a breakfast burrito.
It was about 9:30 after the kids finished breakfast and the boys played a while. I had a few orders to finish. The rest of the morning, I got the kids dressed and cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast.
And then I got myself dressed and my supplements ready (pre-workout, water with amino acids for during workout, and protein powder for after workout).
We got to the gym around 11:50. I worked out legs and did some cardio at the end.
I finished up at the gym around 1:15. It was a rainy day on Friday. We decided to get Chick-fil-a on the way home. Beckham wanted to have a picnic at home so we grabbed it and brought it home. Maddox fell asleep on the drive there and back.
Here they are having their picnic. Maddox looks sad but he was mid-chew. I love these moments with them at home.
Then I tackled some laundry that I had neglected yesterday. And made some cookies for the boys.
The boys played some more, I worked a bit in my office. We skipped Maddox’s nap since we got home later than normal. Ryan came home for a little bit to see us.
Ryan wanted to take them to ice cream before he had to leave again.
The boys and I went home around 5:50 and they did some wrestling and coloring.
I wrote out a list of things I wanted to get done when the kids went to bed. And I got about 2 of them done 🙂
I made the kids some mac n cheese and heated up some leftover grilled chicken with a side of mango. When Ryan is gone, dinner is the hardest thing for me to make. I’m not motivated, but I’m working on making actual meals and offering them to the kids anyway (Maddox is the pickiest eater). I had chicken with garlic fries from Trader Joes.
While the kids finished up, the moved on to Legos so I cleaned out the fridge and organized it.
At 8:30, I gave the kids a bath and then cleaned the bathroom up after we brushed teeth and got pj’s on.
At 9:00, the boys were finally in bed. This is a later bed time for them. Maddox likes to be “rocked” to sleep, which basically means we talk while he sits in my lap and then he climbs into his crib. After I put him to bed, I go into Beckham’s room and talk with him, tell stories, and pray.
From 9:15-9:45, I cleaned up a bit…the kitchen, living room, and breakfast nook areas. I always try to have those areas cleaned each night.
I dried my hair and then watched a show while I did some work on the computer. My tired, no makeup face, but with fresh hair.
This is when I stopped taking pictures and documenting. I went to bed around 1:00am. The Good Wife is keeping me up way too late. Hope you enjoyed a peek into one of my days. I like going back through these posts and seeing how life was at different stages of motherhood.
