Don’t you love bread you can make without using yeast, a bread machine, letting it rise, or having to knead it? I do! This recipe is from my mom and aunt! It’s super easy and probably the MOST delicious bread I’ve ever tasted. It’s a sweeter bread.
Ingredients:
1. 3 cups self rising flour
2. 1 cup sugar
3. 12 oz. beer (any kind you enjoy)
Directions:
1. Mix flour and sugar.
2. Pour beer into flour/sugar and stir until combined.
3. Pour dough into a large greased loaf pan. You can make muffins with this also, but the time will be way shorter (don’t have an exact one for you…when a toothpick comes out clean, they’re ready).
4. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Times will vary depending on your oven. Always use a toothpick to test it.
*NOTES: I think my aunt told me the beer should be room temperature, but I almost always use a cold beer since I forget to pull it out early enough. Works great. Just an FYI (both temps should work). Also, the mixture seemed a little more liguidy this time, so I added about 1/4 – 1/2 cup more flour. The dough should be a little sticky, but it ended up coming out perfect (my dough was like a really thick cake batter???). I didn’t want to over-do the flour. Just another FYI.
Your bread should look similar to this! It will be a little crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside! I like to spread just a little butter on it while it’s warm!
