I haven’t been blogging as much as I’d like to lately, but lots of deep thinking and prioritizing are going on in this neck of woods and some things have been cut back a bit. For now, one of them has been blogging. I love it, but I’m just in “that” season of life right now. This week was Maddox’s first week in his helmet. Let’s just say it has been quite the adjustment.
On another note, I’m loving the cool weather the last couple of days. Much easier to cover up the “baby” weight (pretty sure it’s just loads of sugar weight) 🙂 Ugh, I really need to do something about that. I usually give myself till 6 months postpartum to worry about anything…yes I take my sweet time. It will be 6 months on Christmas, so I’ll enjoy the holidays until then 🙂 On to our week…
On Wednesday, M and I on our way to Dallas to get his helmet. It was a quiet ride, while I enjoyed some coffee (not Starbucks) in my reusable Starbucks cup.
Day 295: Helmet Day! He doesn’t really mind it during the day or night, but trying to fall asleep is a lot harder. We both cried the first couple of days. I almost took off the helmet and burned it.
This was basically the only way he would sleep. I was okay with it…I felt really bad for him.
That same night I made this incredibly delicious meal! You must try THIS recipe!
Good thing he’s cute…this kid really tests my patience! I know his independent, STRONG will, will become a positive attribute one day, but Lord help me. Literally, I ask Him to help me everyday.
Day 296: Double trouble! But more trouble on top!
Here’s me about to take the helmet off and burn it! This was a mere 3 seconds he wasn’t wailing!
On Friday, we went to Kohl’s to get some presents for birthdays. I let him walk while I pushed Maddox. He’s doing better in stores without being in a cart, but I still prefer confining him. He wanted this Olaf so bad. Birthday (this month) and Christmas are going to be really fun this year!
Day 297: He’s really into “Hide and Seek” right now. I love when he covers his eyes like it makes him invisible. At first, he’d tell me where he was as soon as I walked into the room and roamed around saying “Hmm where’s Beckham?” Now, he stays quite.
Each night after bath, I wrap Maddox up and hold him like this. Then sing “You are my sunshine” over and over. He lays his head on my shoulder and calmly listens. He’s not the “calmest” baby as I’ve expressed, so this is one of my FAVORITE moments each day. B is usually in the bath still and will sing along sometimes.
Day 298: Me and the little guy got to hang out on Saturday. We went to B’s best bud, Raylan’s, party at Little Gym (where B’s party is this month).
His “favorite fwend” at school! They’re awkwardly hugging. Beckham is NOT a hugger.
Well, yep…if this doesn’t sum up B’s personality. They were supposed to all be sitting against the wall. Look at the one kid standing up. He acted super weird at this party and was embarrassed to do pretty much everything except run around and play. He hid under a chair during the birthday song. His party will be interesting to say the least.
Later that night, we ate at a Mexican restaurant…with our cape still on!
On Sunday, this cutie turned 4 months old! He also rolled over this week. He can’t keep his head up, so it’s basically just frustrating for him.
After church, we met my parents and brother’s fam for lunch. Uncle Bubba tossing Beckham into the air.
Day 299: Later that day, we went grocery shopping (just B and I). He held my hand VOLUNTARILY into the store. He’s not a hand holder unless we’re in the parking lot and I force him to so I had to snap this shot. He was really into our shadows (see his little finger pointing at them).
I was in a good mood, so I let him ride the pony in the store.
On Monday we went to Pump It Up for free play. There was only 3 other families there and 0 towards the end of our time. I slid down the slide with him…he still talks about it!
Day 300: Later that day, we had some impromptu potty training (his doing). I told him to go grab some underwear from his room and he came back like this (on left). I died laughing. Then a few minutes later (I was feeding Maddox), I look up and see him in his underwear, with shorts on way too high, and shirt tucked in like a huge nerd. Cracks me up!
Day 301: Tuesday was a crazy day! I had M’s 4 month well visit, but the doc didn’t have but one vaccine (he needed 3). So after we picked B up from school, we headed to the health clinic to get the other two. Can you tell which bandaid is from the clinic and which one is from the pediatrician? He was a champ by the way. #shocker
We took our monthly photos that evening. I’m glad these boys have each other! Life is crazy right now, but I’m super thankful for these two boys.
