It’s goal setting time! I’ll quickly go through September goals and review how I did/what I accomplished.
Blog/Shop Goals:
1. Add a subscribe button pop up on blog – I didn’t set up a subscribe button (which I still plan to do), but I did set up a small pop up to different social media.
2. Start Q&A series for blog – Yes. You can check out the first one here.
3. Add Instagram button to social media icons on blog – No, I can’t figure out how to do this without knowing code. I seriously need to hire a virtual assistant to help me with this kind of stuff.
4. Focus on Pinterest Business: I need to switch my account over to a business account and also install a Pinterest scheduler – I did switch my account over to business (it looks no different to public…I just see more stats, plus I’m pretty sure legally you’re supposed to have a business account if you link anything you make money off of…blog, Etsy shop, etc).
Home/Simplify Goals:
1. Finish bedroom decor – Pretty much. I’m waiting for some flowers at Hobby Lobby to go on sale.
2. Install new hardware in kitchen – Yes. If you saw my Instagram a few days ago, you know I was pretty proud! It was a lot harder than expected. I’ll finally share a before and after of our kitchen next week!
3. Hang porch lights (perfect weather for patio sittin’) – No, but I did buy the hooks we’ll use!
4. Finish office makeover (it’s about time) – I did do this, but if you only saw my office floor! So much paper. When it comes to paper and “office things,” I’m bad about decluttering.
5. Get estimates on flooring and/or get carpets cleaned – Nope!
6. Go through ALL closets in the house and declutter/organize – Went through the boys’ closets and organized a bit, but haven’t gone through mine. Let’s just say, organizing closets is not my forte.
7. Sell TV cabinet that was in master bedroom – Trying. It’s on the Facebook sites, but not selling.
Personal Goals:
1. Keep Grocery budget at $400.00 (this has been so hard for me to do lately) – No. I spent $459.11. That wouldn’t be too bad, but we also went over in eating out as well.
2. Menu plan consistently and grocery shop on Tuesdays after drop off – Yes. I actually did Walmart Grocery Pick up twice and it was awesome. It actually makes me save money. I also shopped on a Sunday morning so I don’t think I took the kids once for weekly groceries.
3. Budget every Friday (or Saturday) morning – Kind of. I did it more consistently, but not on those specific days. Let me just say that tracking your budget really is beneficial!
4. Wake up by 7:00am on weekdays – You guys know me well enough to know the answer. What do you think? I actually had one week where I only got 4-5 hours a night. What is wrong with me?!
5. Stop letting kids watch TV in the mornings – I did this a lot this month and I love the mornings a lot better. Plus I don’t feel as bad about a show for Beckham during nap time.
6. Start phonetic reading (letter sounds) with B – No.
7. Start my dang cleaning routine – I finally started it! It was a lot more in depth than I thought. I actually had to stretch out the bathrooms to 2 weeks because I got really busy. I’m hoping that by cleaning more often, it gets easier. And I’m ready to throw away everything in my house. The simpler rooms in our house are so much easier to clean!
8. Eat more veggies (spinach in smoothies, salads, and veggies at dinner) – Nope. 🙁
9. Bible reading in morning – Sadly, I was not consistent with this.
Overall, I was pretty pleased with what I got done this month, especially in the House department…and especially while hubby is away a lot. We also all went to the dentist last month.
Now for October goals!
I saw these quotes on Pinterest and really loved them. I feel like I totally fall into this trap of confining myself. I hate to admit it, but I think I’m kind of a glass half empty person…not because I’m negative, but because I think something can always be better. My perfectionism really hurts me with goals sometimes. So I’m working on breaking down those stupid walls 🙂
I love this quote by Aristotle. I completely agree and if this doesn’t make you get your rear into gear, I don’t know what will! Those everyday habits are how we live life!
I love sharing my goals with you all because it really does keep me accountable and helps me stay focused. That hardware and office decor got done at the end of the month because I was embarrassed to get back on here with too many “failed” goals.
October is busy and a lot of my goals are pouring over from last month. And that’s okay.
Blog/Shop Goals:
1. Add a subscribe button pop up on blog – I didn’t set up a subscribe button (which I still plan to do), but I did set up a small pop up to different social media.
2. Add Instagram button to social media icons on blog
3. Focus on Pinterest Business: I really need to set up a scheduler!
4. Start a Goal board (posting goals on a board in office to see daily).
Home/Simplify Goals:
1. Finish bedroom decor – Put the last finishing touches to room and photograph it for a blog post.
2. Hang porch lights!
3. Organize office.
4. Get estimates on flooring and/or get carpets cleaned.
5. Organize and declutter master closet.
Personal Goals:
1. Plan Beckham’s birthday and send out invites towards end of October. Can’t believe B will be 5!!!
2. Start phonetic reading (letter sounds) with B
Aside from the above personal goals, I want to really try and focus on sleep and morning quiet time. These are two things I need badly, but am lacking big time! So there are October’s goals! This is one of my favorite months, so I plan to enjoy with my two little boys!

You got a lot accomplished. You could have just listed…installed hardware on cabinets MYSELF and that would have been enough!!

Haha…I know right. That’s kind of how I felt. The knobs weren’t hard, but the handles were a beating!

Nice work!!
I moved away from monthly goals this year, but I agree that making and sharing goals greatly increases what I accomplish. I have a feeling they’re coming back next year…
Have a great October!!

I know what you mean about the perfectionist part – I rack my brain over things and get a lot less accomplished b/c I don’t want to start something until I know how I can do it perfectly. UGH!! So annoying! Can’t wait to read more about your kitchen hardware. 🙂 I have to get a pinterest scheduler too – I need to make the time to research it!
