Getting Groceries Under Control Part 3: Week 2 Meals and Shopping

This month, I’m documenting everything that has to do with groceries.  If you missed Part 1: The Plan, click HERE.  If you missed Part 2: Week 1, click HERE.  Remember, my goal is to spend less than $400 this month, $360 to be exact.

First of all, here is my MENU PLAN for the week (click on link for recipe):
Monday: Baked Spaghetti, corn on the cob, salad
Tuesday: Leftovers
Wednesday: Breakfast – Cinnamon Roll casserole, eggs, potatoes
Thursday: Chicken Pesto Paninis & chips (pesto, shredded chicken, mozzarella)
Friday: Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
Saturday: Birthday
Sunday: Birthday
Dessert: Brownies with caramel pieces and chocolate chips
*I had originally thought we were going to cook our turkey, but I forgot to get it out in order to thaw so we’ll do that next week.

Here is my GROCERY PLAN OUTLINE…I take this to the grocery store with me to shop.
This is after I shopped (I forgot to take a pic of it before)…sorry it’s hard to see

My goal was $75 this week.  We decided to try out the brand new store, Winco, and see what the prices were like.  They had a ton on sale and we ended up just getting majority of our food there.  It was a great store, BUT they only take cash, debit card, and checks.  Luckily I had my check book with me.  And you have to bag your own groceries.  I did NOT like those two things about it, but it had great savings.  If I shop there, I will not take Beckham as it would be too hard to checkout with him (Ryan was with me this time).  Market Street had a great sale on 93% ground beef so I went over budget since you had to buy in bulk.  I did not get the turkey listed on there because of that.

Lastly, here is what we bought this week.  The store and price is underneath each picture. And the total spent so far this month.

This was our loot from Winco.  We usually don’t buy that much cereal, but we had a coupon for two Cheerios, plus they had regular cheerios on sale.  And I’m really liking cereal lately.  I also used a coupon on the Bisquick.
Winco Total bill = $48.40.

We got clementines, ham, and ground beef at Market Street.  Ground beef was $2.98/lb.  We got 7 pounds.
Market Street Total bill = $28.51

This is how I divided it and store it in the freezer.
We got grapes, potatoes, and celery from Albertsons.  This was on my way home from MOPS so it was an easy stop.
Albertsons Total Bill = $5.98

And this is how I store my grapes and celery…washed and cut.
Lastly, I got a few things from Walmart and the strawberries from Sprouts.  I really wanted to take my Winco receipt in and compare the prices to some of the things I wasn’t sure of, but I didn’t have time.  I had already cut into the french bread when I remembered to take a picture.  Also got some suckers at Sprouts (not pictured).
Walmart Total Bill = $14.95 & Sprouts Total Bill = $4.84

TOTAL BILL FOR WEEK 2: $102.68

My goal was $75 this week…ouch!  Okay, so after Week 1 and Week 2, our total budget spent so far is:
TOTAL BUDGET SO FAR: $236.80
This leaves us with roughly $123 for the month of February.  That’s about $60 for each remaining week.  Ummm…I really hope I can do this realistically.
