#oliviaeveryday2014 Week 33

Day 225

Day 225: The only thing I want to do lately!  Sleep deprivation never sounded like a real form of torture until I experienced a little taste of it.
Day 226
Day 226: My little burrito!  He sleeps so great swaddled…I’m nervous when we have to break him of it.  B never was swaddled.
Day 227
Day 227: We survived our first dining out experience.  We went to a local café for breakfast because they are really quick with service. B might have eaten jelly straight out of the container!
Day 228
Day 228: Oh the life.  He’s becoming more content with not being held all the time.
Day 229
Day 229: The men in my life!  I don’t deserve them!  This day was so wonderful.  We went to my parents after church and swam and hung out in the back.  Majority of their backyard is shaded so it’s actually kind of nice in the late afternoon.  Maddox LOVED it as he laid there and didn’t whimper once.
Day 230
Day 230: This pretty much sums up our days…Maddox eating and Beckham in time out.  My friend informed me it looked like I was breastfeeding.  FYI, I was not nursing him…he takes a bottle.  Not that I can’t post that, but that would be kind of awkward (for me at least…I’m not a public breastfeeding person).
Day 231
Day 231: We hung out with our sweet friends on Tuesday!  Beckham really loves Faith..and they fed him lunch too!

“Playing” games at Gattitown…he just sits at the games and presses buttons.  Don’t know how much longer we can get away with that.

On our way home Ryan asked B if he wanted to go to the park in the rain and he said yes.  So I dropped them off and went home with M.  They had so much fun and the park to themselves.

No words…

Grocery shopping is a bit harder with a car seat taking up the basket.

Olivia at how many weeks did you start pumping? I'm 5ish weeks away from becoming a first time mom and although I think nursing is great I would prefer to pump and bottle feed. I took a class recently and the lactation nurse said you shouldn't pump until 4 weeks and introduce a bottle at 6 weeks. I know many people who start pumping right away so guess I'm just looking for your insight?!?

I started pumping the day my milk came in, which was Day 3 or 4. He latched on pretty well in the hospital when I just had colostrum, but it was very difficult when I was so engorged. And I was EXTREMELY uncomfortable and had to pump it out. With my first son, I pumped in the hospital on Day 3 or 4 also (I was in there longer because of c-section) and that was on the lactation consultant's recommendation. Ideally, I think nursing exclusively for a couple weeks before you introduce bottles would be great because I know there can be some supply and latching issues, but I honestly did not have any with either baby. I've actually heard opposite of introducing the bottle that late and it being difficult for them to accept a bottle and then moms are stuck nursing all the time (if they want to give bottle every now and then) or worse, baby not getting enough milk if mom goes back to work because they won't take bottle. I personally did not have any issues pumping that early. I actually have an enormous supply and I think it's due to pumping so early (baby doesn't really set the amount, I do). Congratulations and good luck with it all….breastfeeding (whether from nursing or bottle feeding) is very difficult for the first month or two…don't give up!
