Several months ago we decided to redecorate our master bedroom, including painting the walls. I absolutely love it and it’s so peaceful. And it’s a good thing I took the pictures a couple of weeks ago, because last week our master bedroom carpet flooded with water. After almost a week of limited hot water and fans constantly blowing in our room, it’s now fixed, but our room is a rearranged mess. Our pipes under our house had a leak which is what caused the flooding. $1500 poorer, and now we are looking at how to fix the cosmetic damage. #homeownership
I feel very blessed to have the luxuries we have after using limited hot water this past week…the hot water valve had to be in the off position to stop the leak so any showers had to be done at mock speed…and no dishwasher or hot wash cycles for laundry. I’m also thankful for Ryan’s second job as a ref to pay for the unexpected problem.
On to the transformation of our room though…
Here are a couple of main before and after photos.
And here are some detailed pictures of the new room decor.
The paint color we went with was based on some of y’all’s suggestions from an Instagram picture I posted. It’s called Adley Grey by Sherwin Williams. It’s more of a taupe grey, which I love. It actually looked more taupe when I did a sample on the wall (when we still had the brown color up), but I still really like it. It really brightened the room.
I’d love new furniture, but keeping the old saved a lot of money. I got rid of the armoire though which really simplified it and eliminated some of the bold cherry wood (which I can’t stand anymore). I also got rid of the mirror that came with the dresser. I was surprised how well the wood furniture actually went with the grey. I thought it would clash.
This is my favorite transformation. It’s amazing what a good mirror can do for a space. I found this one at Kirklands and it’s perfect.
Everything else is new too. New lamp from Target I believe. The flowers are from Hobby Lobby. The green plant is from IKEA (white pot too). The silver frame is from Tuesday Morning or Ross…I can’t remember.
This is Ryan’s side of the bed. I found these lamps at Hobby Lobby (the other matching one is on my side). I found one I loved at Ross, but couldn’t find another one, so I went with these. I really do love them though. I bought them 50% off of course from Hobby Lobby.
I’m not satisfied with this side of the room with the book shelf and chest with the TV, but it’s good for now. I might add a small chair and floor lamp in front of that book shelf, but I like the open room for now.
My favorite time of day in our room is at night when the lamps are lit. I added really dim lights in those table lamps and it’s the perfect light. That big mirror on the wall on my side was from our room before, it was just in a different spot.
I’m so happy with how the room turned out! To see anymore room makeovers or room tours, click here.

I LOVE that you don’t have a lot of “stuff”.. or is it hiding somewhere 😉 I am trying to live more simply. It feels good to purge. Have you read anything worth-while regarding living simply?!

I read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying up by KonMari last year and it sparked simple living for me. I like to watch a lot of YouTube videos of simple living. The main reason I need simplicity is because it’s impossible to clean when there is so much stuff. I also watched that Netflix video on Minimalism. It was interesting the facts behind consumerism in America.

Love the updates and I’m also impressed with how clean / simple everything looks! Where do you keep things like mail, keys, etc. (the things that are currently cluttering our dresser in our master bedroom)?
JoyfullyPrudent says
Thanks Jen. Mail, keys and such are on a little table thing by our kitchen. That stuff usually clutters up our bar surface though. And remember, I cleaned it for these pictures 🙂 But I do like to keep this room super clean and simple so it’s peaceful for sleeping. Our master closet looks like a bomb went off though. LOL

I believe I got it from Target in store. Target has some good options. I wish it was a little thicker but I do love the all white…the light weight of it is good for where we live in Texas…it’s mostly hot here.
