7 Months: Rockin n Rollin!

Dear Beckham,
You are officially closer to a year old than your BIRTHday. Guess I can start planning your first birthday – MONSTERS maybe? I cannot wait! You did a lot this month. It FLEW by. I’m now officially your care taker and couldn’t be happier! It has been fabulous and I’m loving every minute. I am so thankful to get this time with you and that your dad not only supports it, but encourages it. Speaking of dad! We celebrated Father’s Day last Saturday. You have the BEST daddy for you. I hope you end up just like him. We worked really hard on his Father’s Day gifts. Your Uncle Bubba took some photos of you holding letters that spelled D-A-D. We framed them and it was super cute. You also painted a picture for him. It was beautiful. I thought you were going to eat the paint, but you just smeared it around. I made a photo book of some great pictures of you and your dad. He LOVED it and it’s cool to look at how much you have grown since last November. I got him a heart rate monitor to thank him for all his hard work and partnership in raising you. I’m glad he’s my teammate in parenting. Oh and we tried to put your hand print on a baseball for him, but it turned out terrible…looked like a black smudge on a baseball. Definitely something to try when you’re an infant and can’t refuse.

Just woke up and about to celebrate!

I love this one of you and him

This last month you really developed a bit of a temper. Now considering you are a very mild tempered baby, it’s not that bad, but funny to see you actually get mad about things. Instead of fussing a little when you’re bored, hungry, or tired, you will scream and show anger. I know I shouldn’t laugh, but it’s just funny to see this new personality trait. You are still an extremely happy baby though. And you must love the sound of your voice because you “talk” a lot. So much that we have opted to not eat out near as much since it’s a little embarrassing.

One thing that I have loved seeing now that I’m with you all the time, is your discovery of the world. It has made me view things so differently – the sounds the world makes, the texture of certain objects, the tastes of simple foods like carrots!

You are definitely laughing more this month. Things that make you laugh are being tickled in your ribs, when I throw you up in the air, when I make silly noises/faces, and when I clean your nose with the blue bulb sucker thing.

Two new things you are doing this month:

1. You make this pucker face that cracks your dad and me up

2. You are getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. I’m sure crawling is around the corner! You practice a lot in your crib!

We had an exciting get together this month. It was your little cousin’s gender reveal party. We went to find out what Uncle Bubba and Aunt Kerry are having in November. Your cousin is a …………….GIRL! We’re super excited for them and can’t wait to meet Tenley Grace. Here you are dressed for the party and right after we found out.

Measurements:
No doctor’s appointment this month, but weigh about 18 pounds. You’re short and squaty. You wear 6-9 month clothing for the most part, but are nearing more 9 month clothing.

My favorite thing: You are starting to reach up to me! Oh my gosh it’s the greatest thing. And I enjoy your laughing SO much! One thing I wish you did do was cuddle. I try to cuddle you after your feedings or when you’re tired and you don’t want any part of it. You’re very independent 🙂

Daily Activities: You still have the same schedule, but now that you eat solids, I feel like all you do is eat and sleep. You are able to play more independently with toys and love your bouncer. I decided to count up how many hours you are awake each day. You are only up 7-8 hours a day. I don’t know if that’s normal, but it doesn’t seem like a lot to me. I love playing with you! You are playing much more independently and army crawl or roll everywhere. We are going to make our office into a playroom with lots of fun things for you! Can’t wait to transform it!

Eating: You now eat solids about three times a day. It started off really slow and small amounts, but you have taken to solids very well! I have made all your food and it is quite easy…and kind of fun. You eat about 2 Tablespoons of veggies and 1-2 Tbsp of fruits at each feeding. I have to feed you all your veggies first or you refuse the veggies once you’ve tasted the fruit…you got your daddy’s sweet tooth! You eat oatmeal with some fruit in it for breakfast. Then veggies/fruit for lunch and dinner. You’ve tried avocado (not a fan, but we’ll try again this week…I don’t think I pureed it enough), sweet potato, carrots, peas, bananas, apples, and pears. You love your mesh eater with fruit inside – blueberries, watermelon, peaches, and strawberries (these were too tart for you though – see below)

Sleeping: I was worried if you would nap for me like you did for Heather. You have transitioned just fine. You sleep about the same. Lately, you sleep about 8pm-8am. Then nap from 9:30-11ish, then your afternoon nap varies on time, but is usually is about 2 hours. If there is one thing I think I did well so far it’s getting you to sleep well! Lots of reading and research, but well worth it! Here is you and Heather on your last week with her.

Every time we drink out of a cup with you in our arms, you get REALLY excited and grab for our drink. Daddy started letting you sip out of it!

You love your bouncer…and so do I – I can get things done with you bouncing away! This is your favorite place to poop! Which means I clean up a lot of blow outs (right up the back)!

I did a comparison of you and dad in the bath. He’s a little older than you are in this picture. I wish you were smiling because I think you two have the same smile.

Now here is you and I – Everyone tells me you look like me. I do think you favor me, but I think you have Ryan’s look with my features. Maybe that’s because you’re a boy, but we’ll see how you look when you’re older. I think you have a pretty good mix. Regardless, you are handsome and adorable to me!
