28th Birthday Fun

My birthday fell on a Saturday this year so I celebrated all weekend long.  I was especially excited about this birthday because I didn’t do much last year being that I had a 3 month old.  This year, I couldn’t wait to get out and do something.
On Friday, I celebrated with two of my close friends at Shoguns, a hibachi grill here in town.  They have my favorite sushi roll and the food is great!  We also got free drinks because I used to teach the owner’s two kids.  And he’s just awesome!  Here we are at the restaurant!  It was a great girls night!  Ryan was reffing of course!  Thanks mom and dad for babysitting.

On Saturday, we went to breakfast as a family.  I LOVE going to breakfast!  I didn’t get a picture inside, but here’s Beckham running around outside the restaurant.

After breakfast, we came home and relaxed as a family.  I cleaned out the guest room for my mother-in-law who was spending the night at our house with Beckham.  I have been meaning to clean it out for a LONG time now, so I was glad to be “forced” to clean it (at least enough for someone to stay there overnight).  That’s my project over Spring Break.
Late that afternoon, we left our little man and headed to a movie.  I didn’t know which movie Ryan had planned for or where he planned to take me.  Ended up, we went to Studio Movie Grill in Richardson.  It’s brand new and extremely awesome!  I highly recommend it for a date.  They have a bar in the lobby area, a DJ, and couches/tables for you to hang out until your movie time…or just to hang out afterwards.  We had planned to eat afterwards, so we didn’t get the food, but we were both saying how we’ll come back soon to eat as well.  It looked great!  Our ticket included a drink and we ordered the popcorn as well.  Umm, this popcorn is something to talk about!  Goodness, it was delicious.  It wasn’t like most movie theater popcorn…it was hot, buttery, and ridiculously good!  Ok, I know that sounds like most theater popcorn, but you’ll just have to try it to understand!  He bought tickets for Safe Haven!  Yes, my man endured a chick flick for me.  Don’t lie Ryan, you know you liked it! Haha.

You know I love a good deal…it makes the date that much better!  My man got these tickets through Groupon for $13, which like I said, included a drink ($3.50 each at theater).  I think the popcorn was $4.00 ($4.50 at most).  Movie, drinks, and popcorn for $17!

After the movie, we went to Pappadeaux for dinner.  They have the BEST fried mozzarella sticks!  They brought us a FREE dessert since it was birthday.  Didn’t know they did that.  We got the banana pudding!  As I mentioned in my 28 Facts About Me post, I get embarrassed very easily.  I begged her not to sing to me, which she didn’t, but there was a candle, so I thought EVERYONE in the restaurant was looking at me, plus Ryan was taking pictures and singing.  Ugh!  It was good though.

We stayed the night at Hilton’s Doubletree Hotel in Dallas!  Warm cookie upon arrival and when they found out it was my birthday, they gave us two free vouchers for their breakfast buffet!  That is how you get repeat customers!  I’ll write another post about how we Ryan books hotels.  It’s incredible the discount (over 50% off) we received for doing a little work beforehand.  We love staying in local hotels – no dishes to clean and no beds to make!

The next day we went to my parents house to celebrate my brother-in-law’s and my birthday.  We have a big family…sometimes we have to combine celebrations.  My parents spoiled me!  Check out the coffee cups they got me below.  Starbucks, Target, and AMC gift cards!  A shirt, a dress, another mini bundt pan, and a book I’ve been wanting to read, Full Time Parenting: A Guide to Family Based Discipleship by Israel Wayne.  Oh, I forgot to mention Ryan got me some Scentsy’s and this new blog design!  He also gave me some moolah to go shopping with!  Here it was sitting on my mirror when I got out of the shower.

We came home to a clean house with all our laundry washed and folded thanks to my mother-in-law.  She truly is wonderful!  It was a great weekend and I felt very special!
