I’m linking up today to share what’s been going on lately! Even though it’s Thursday, just roll with it.
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
This week our menu plan is:
-Monday: Tacos
-Tuesday: Pizza (Ryan was gone)
-Wednesday: Dinner at a friends house
-Thursday: White Chicken Chili
-Friday: Marinated Chicken Breast + Rice + Edamame
-Saturday: Quesadillas + Beans
-Sunday: Whatever We Have (Breakfast, Leftovers, Salad)
Aside from our planned meals, we had burgers this month, waffles with fruit on top, a Turkey Almond Jack Melt at my favorite local cafe, and a delicious salad at Panera Bread just to name a few favorites.
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
I’m definitely thinking back to September when the boys started preschool. They had their last day on Tuesday so I took their “last day” pictures and it’s so fun to see how they’ve grown. This was from last September when Beckham was 3 years old (almost 4) and Maddox was 15 months old.
WHAT I’M LOVING:
The gym! Working out is just who I am. I was running at the gym and realized I’ve been playing a sport since I was 8 years old and the only time I took off from being active was once I had both boys. With Beckham, I started playing soccer again about a year after I had him, but I haven’t consistently worked out or played soccer since Maddox was born (almost 2 years ago). Mainly due to time and the fact that I didn’t feel good about dropping him off till just recently. In other words, I’m just not me when I’m not extremely active. Walks around the block (and chasing young kids) just doesn’t make me feel fit. I need something more. I’m also learning that diet is much more key when your over 30! 🙁
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
We’ve been playing outside quite a bit until this week (it’s been raining off and on). Lots of things ended this month, so it feels as if summer is actually here (MOPS ended, Preschool ended). Our days have actually been low key (in relation to the kids). Lots of visits to the gym as well. I got to have a couple of lunch dates with my mom…we had another one last Tuesday and went back to Snug…this time I got a spiced chai tea latte too.
The heat! I’m hoping we have a mild June for Maddox’s birthday party.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
Blog – I’ve been working on organizing the blog a little, but honestly, I’m trying hard to find time to fit in a couple of posts each week. I have plenty of content, but being a full time mama, running my Etsy shop (which is extremely busy in May), and trying to keep a clean home, it’s tough to find time. I mean clearly…I’m posting a Wednesday link up on Thursday.
Joyful Art Designs – May was busy as usual, but I’m working on adding signs that are just sitting in my folders.
House – I’ve been decluttering a lot lately. I’m also working on getting into a cleaning routine. I just feel all over the place with cleaning. I’m working on finding someone to build us a new fence and possibly do some hardwood floors in our living room (and maybe kitchen). We still might do this ourselves, but I’d like to go into kitchen as well (I hate tile) but we have no idea how to remove tile.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Maddox’s birthday in June. We’re doing a Fiesta theme and can’t wait to plan that and celebrate that sweet, perfect little man! This age is pretty fun! I can’t believe this was 2 years ago. His ginormous head is still cone shaped in this picture (this was taken at home)…that’s what 2.5 hours of pushing will do. And do you remember he had to wear a helmet too? So much has changed!
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
Have I ever mentioned I’m a uncommitted reader? I hop from a few different books at once apparently. I started off reading Stop Acting Rich and jumped to 7 Habits of Highly Successive People. I’m reading both, along with Kristin Cavallari’s Balancing in Heels.
We finished up Survivor (I was totally bumbed with the winner) and Dancing with the Stars, but don’t you worry….one of my favorites started back up again. The Bachelorette! We have a small watch party that we do every other week or so and it’s a great girl’s night! I always have something to look forward to on Monday nights.
I need suggestions for shows, more so for Ryan and I on Netflix. His school year is about to end so we can afford some TV time and love watching shows together. We love drama’s and mystery type shows. Any suggestions?
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
If someone picked up my iPod and heard the songs I listen to while working out, I’d be embarrassed. I go a little gangsta rap when working out…nothing else pumps me up. The boys and I have been rolling the windows down in the car and blaring some country music on the radio. Summer in Texas and country music just go together!
WHAT I’M WEARING:
Same old workout clothes. I need to get some dresses for church. I’m lacking in church clothes.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Ryan has another camp, but we will be celebrating my brother and Ryan’s birthdays on Memorial Day. The boys and I will keep busy with some fun activities, but the weather looks like it’s going to be rainy. We will hit up the indoor pool at the gym and possibly visit my parents.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Definitely Ryan having some more time off (he does summer school, but it’s only half day), the pool, and lazy, summer days. Really looking forward to Maddox’s birthday.
We are also in the midst of planning a family vacation, but that is most likely going to happen in July.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
My page views have increased tremendously since switching to WordPress and I have no idea what I’ve done. It reminded me I need to write a post with my experience with switching. I kept reading that traffic would increase from merely switching over, but I’m now starting to see it. I will try my best to work on that post soon for those curious about switching over.
Have a great Friday!

Hey Olivia 🙂 Have you guys watched Bloodline? Season 2 just came out. It’s on Netflix. Kyle Chandler is in it. It is very good, really sucks you in. It is a little slow but worth it. There’s Justified, it’s about US Marshals in Kentucky. Love it!! It’s over now and I think there was 5 seasons or so.
Love what you’ve done with your blog. I found you through Erika a while back. Have read all your archives. Love your perspective on life.
Anyway you have a big fan from Qld, Australia. 🙂 Sam xo
