I’m linking up today to share what’s been going on lately!
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
I’ve been documenting my grocery hauls and menu plans this month! You can see Week 1 here and Week 2 here. I’ll post Week 3 tomorrow. Here are some things we are eating this week.
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
To be honest, I’m not really reminiscing about much, but I ran across this picture recently and can’t believe how far we’ve all come from those times!
Now that little babe looks like this…
WHAT I’M LOVING:
I’m loving my new coffee maker! If you’re on the lookout for a new coffee maker, you have to check out the Ninja Coffee Bar. It’s like a Keurig and Coffee pot in one! I haven’t even dove into all the cold drinks it can make! The frother is pretty cool too! I made a hot caramel macchiato you see below!
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
I’ve been up to a lot! I am digging deep into my house and redecorating and rearranging things. I mentioned back in one of my goals post that the breakfast nook area is killing me! That’s also where my desk is located and it’s just not working for me anymore! So, after LOTS of arguing deliberating about what should happen, I decided to move the recently redecorated playroom to the boys room and make it back into an office. All the toys will go into the boys room (mainly Beckham’s). It’s not ideal, but it is what it is right now. Our house is close to 2000 square feet and an extra room for a playroom just wasn’t working for me. We might hate it, but I never grew up with a playroom and I’m pretty sure I turned out okay 🙂 I’ll update how we organized and decorated B’s room into both a bedroom and playroom! Let’s say farewell to the playroom…
WHAT I’M DREADING:
I’m dreading swimsuit season! I avoided the pool last year and I refuse to do that this year with the boys. Better get my butt to the gym! Only a couple more months left! 🙁
WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
I’m working on making myself a new office and a few other projects around the house. In my 2016 Goals post, I talked about loving the house I’m in and not always wishing to move. So, Ryan and I decided that would involve some projects around the house. Next up is getting our kitchen cabinets painted and painting our master bedroom! And I STILL need to finish decorating the master bathroom (but realized I need to add a second coat of paint). I should also be working on my blog in different aspects and my shop! This a before shot of our cabinets. They’re not too bad, but there is a lot of chipping and quite frankly, I’m tired of this wood color.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Spring Break. Ryan is done with reffing soon and we’re ending it with a trip to San Antonio with him (he’ll be reffing there). The days are SOOO easy when he gets home at night…I’m like a different person with some help.
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
I just finished The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. I really recommend this book to everyone. It’s about the slight changes you make in your life that over time make a HUGE difference. One slight edge he talks about is reading 10 pages of a helpful book each day. Key word: Helpful…one full of knowledge. The more self help and success books I read, the more I understand the importance of filling your brain with knowledge. Nothing wrong with reading books for entertainment, but if I have 15-20 minutes to read each day, I am choosing to read those kinds of books. I love reading for entertainment on vacation. Otherwise, I like my entertainment in the form of television.
Speaking of T.V., I just finished the last season of Parenthood. So good! I also keep up with The Bachelor, Biggest Loser (which just ended), and American Idol.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Carrie Underwood.
WHAT I’M WEARING:
Yoga pants and shirts except for when I’ve been out and at church.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND!
I’m celebrating my birthday with my family this Sunday. This was the soonest we could celebrate with Ryan’s schedule. This was me last year on my birthday…welcoming my nephew!
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Ryan being done with basketball season! He’ll still have some reffing functions, but season is over which means he’ll be home at night!
WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
Maddox is saying some new words and my mama heart is happy. He’s definitely been slow to say any words. He understands us so well, but is just now starting to say words. He says Bubba (for Beckham), Dada, mama (he means “more” though), cookie, ho-ho-ho (for santa), mine (pronounce “my”) and just recently, thank-you! They boys got pizza and a show last night during dinner. Beckham was cracking up during the show and Maddox started to laugh (you know that social laugh). It made me smile!
BONUS QUESTION – What is your favorite Easter tradition?
Every Easter we go to church! We dress a little nicer 🙂 and it’s my favorite service. It’s the very existence of Christianity…Jesus died for our sins and ROSE FROM THE DEAD 3 days later. We also have a little fun with the kids and do an Easter egg hunt. We usually visit both of our parents for a celebration! Maddox will get to get in on the action this year! Here’s our Easter last year…
Check in tomorrow to see Week 3 Grocery Haul and Meals and see how I’m doing on our $400 monthly grocery budget. Happy Hump Day!
