Results of 24 Day Challenge

Man do I have lots of posts to catch up on.  I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the holiday break with family, especially Ryan who has two weeks off from teaching and only has to ref a handful of times over break!  I’ll take it.  I have been overjoyed with my blessings this Christmas season!

I wanted to make my first post after Christmas, the results from my Advocare 24 Day Challenge.

This was my journey from pregnancy to a year after having a baby!

Let me start off by saying I’m extremely pleased considering the circumstances of this challenge.  What I mean by that is I didn’t follow this challenge as closely as I did the first time.

Read my first post on starting this challenge here.

Read my Day 6 update after starting the challenge here.

Like I mentioned before this challenge was much more difficult this time around than last.  The only reason I can contribute to the difficulty this time, is being a mom…at least a mom to a VERY energetic toddler.  And since my job is being his mommy, he requires more attention from me than I can give myself.  Therefore, prepping my meals, grocery shopping, working out, and remembering when to take the supplements was second priority to my little man.  BUT, it still was A priority.

I’ll start with the fun stuff first…pictures!  This was the results from 24 days of healthier eating, supplementation, and a little working out!  Read below for the details.

The biggest difference I noticed over the 24 days was in my stomach.  Obviously, having a baby a year ago, this was my trouble spot.  I didn’t diet (since I was breast feeding) or exercise much, so it felt very good to have my body to my self again!

Here are the things I did to lose 6 pounds in less than a month:
1. A 10 day cleanse
2. Supplementation – this is very important in our diets, especially when you are dieting.  My favorite supplementation is the Catalyst!  I take it before I workout (or in between meals if I don’t exercise that day).  When you lose weigh, your body eats the muscle first.  Catalyst preserves the muscle, therefore the fat is eaten away!
3. Exercise – I didn’t work out the first several days, but when I did start, my workouts consisted of a 5 minute cardio warm-up, LOTS of weights, and about 20 minutes of cardio if I had time.  Since weights burn more calories during and after working out, I wanted to maximize my calorie burn while at the gym!
4. Counting my calories – MyFitnessPal (on my iPhone) was very helpful!  I tried to keep my calories around 1300-1400.  Sometimes I went over, but tried to keep it close.
5. Avoided fast food and soda – This was BIG for me.  I love fast food, but this helped a lot!

I feel MUCH better about my body and have continued to workout!  I didn’t follow this plan to a T, but enough to lose weight!  What I like about the Advocare 24 Day Challenge is it’s mostly a guide to healthy eating with supplementation.  There’s no “secret” shake or pill you take.  And it’s only 24 days.  After that, you’ve cleaned your system amd learned good eating habits.

Here are some meals that helped me enjoy eating (I’m not a big “lean meat and veggie” girl…I mean I’ll eat it, but talk about boring)!
Pan Seared Tilapia topped with avocado, baked potato with onions, and broccoli.  Click here for recipe.
Chicken Fried Rice – Grill or boil chicken then cut it up, saute frozen mixed vegetables, cook brown rice, scramble 2 eggs…Mix all of it together with a little Lite Soy sauce!
My bean recipe.  I ate this with a salad.  Click here for the recipe.
Oatmeal and/or Grapefruit for breakfast!

Chicken Tortilla Soup – Click here for recipe

Clean and Delicious website has many more recipes!

So what now?  Use MyFitnessPal to count calories when I can (especially when I eat out), exercise at least 3 times a week, shooting for 4-5, and enjoy food without stressing over every calorie.
