There is something I really enjoy about Day in the Life posts of other bloggers. I even enjoy going back and reading some of my own, especially since the seasons of motherhood are changing so frequently right now. This day is definitely a REAL life picture of a typical day. It was a bit frazzled and frustrating at times, but nonetheless, a day I’ll look back on and cherish…these long, very hard days at home are truly some of the best moments I’ve had in life.
Speaking of frazzled, I totally forgot to start taking pictures until about 11:00 when we were about to head out to run a couple of errands. I’m linking up today with Andrea from Momfessionals to share our Day in the Life posts. I can’t wait to read the others. Here’s mine…
Like I mentioned, I didn’t start snapping pics until noon, but our morning was typical. Maddox woke at 8:00. I gave him his milk and made him some pancakes. Beckham didn’t come out of his room till 9:30. That’s kind of late for him, but if we don’t have anywhere to go early in the morning, I let him sleep in. He doesn’t nap so I want him to get the sleep his body needs. Everyone had pancakes and the boys played while I cleaned up breakfast and picked up around the house from our crazy weekend.
My mother-in law came by to drop off some things for me. She also brought some goodies.
After we got dressed, we headed to grab some lunch at Freebirds before going to the grocery store. My cute lunch dates. The weather was so pretty!
The boys chased each other around this pillar. They’re interacting more and more each day! I love it!
I looked over and noticed how mismatched Maddox’s outfit was. Matilda Jane totally gives me the confidence that it’s okay to wear stuff like this. Just a trendy mismatched outfit that I totally did on purpose. #not We’re transitioning to winter, but those clothes (Becham’s hand me downs) are just a tad too big so I’m not really sure what to put him in. Summer clothes that are too small or winter clothes that are too big? The boys were born in completely opposite seasons so the whole same gender/same clothes thing hasn’t worked too well for us!
Then we headed to the grocery store to pick up a few things we needed. I’m so bad y’all. I bought an entire bag of dum-dums so I could give Maddox a sucker so he’d stop whining. Sadly, this is the second time I’ve done this. We have so many suckers at our house now. I should know by now to throw a couple in my purse. I have no idea what B is doing in this pic.
I grabbed a drink on my way home and it was delicious! Notice the music title? #mom #kidmusic
Maddox fell asleep on the way home.
He was so tired, his sucker had fallen out of his hand and he didn’t even budge when I put him on the changing table to change his diaper. Slept through the whole thing…and me wiping off his hands and mouth of sticky sugar. He took a nap around 2:15 when we got home.
I put the groceries up. Look what fun things I found at the store? I got these pretzel dippers for Beckham’s lunches. And I like to eat and drink late at night while I work, so I thought I’d get this tea to have something a little healthier than my usually craving of cereal or sweets. The cold brew tea is for dinner.
After I put the groceries away, I started making some chili for dinner. I made it, then put it in the crock pot to simmer till dinner time. I also made some corn bread muffins to go with it. I’ll share this recipe soon! By the way, I’m not this on top of dinner…like ever!
After I put all the dishes in the sink (to clean later), I sat down at my desk to do some work (B is watching TV a this point), I notice a sticky substance on my floor by my desk. Long story short, my coffee had spilled from inside the trash sack we had on the floor and leaked ALL over the floor, under my desk (by wires), under the trash can. It was a mess and I ended up spending the next 30 minutes wiping that up and mopping the entire kitchen because I had spread it around from walking! Frustrating, but now my floors are clean!
I managed to sit down for 30 minutes and get a little work done before I was interrupted by something and then I had to get Maddox up from his nap at 5:00 (would have done it earlier but was tied up). My afternoon work sesh was really messed up and another reason for a late night. This is the tough thing about being a full time mom and working from home. I just can’t seem to figure out a good schedule. There is always something to do and something always comes up.
This guy was happy after his nap.
Our neighbors across the street asked us to come over and paint some leftover pumpkins with them and ended up feeding us pizza too! Ryan was gone reffing so it was great to do that in the evening!
After pizza and some playing, we headed back to take a bath around 7:30. I’m sorry for the obnoxious amount of bath pictures, but I just loved them all.
After bath time, we get in our pj’s and read books in Beckham’s room. It’s about 7:50 by this point. We’re on B’s old mattress because we’re selling his bed…it’s just sitting in his room for the time being, but it makes a great reading spot 🙂
While B and I read, Maddox just plays around in his room. He jumped on both of our backs while we were reading last night.
The 4 books he chose! I’m a big fan of children’s books, but that book, No, David??? I don’t get the hype of the book. Sometimes I really wonder how in the world some books get published. He loves Little Red Riding Hood. Of course he loves the wolf parts.
I put Maddox down around 8:15 and Bekham down around 8:30. Ryan walked in the door around 8:35 so B came out of his room to see him and Maddox started screaming when he heard him come in. Ryan ended up putting both boys back to bed (after a little hello time) around 8:45. We sat down on the couch around 9:20 to watch The Voice. Monday nights are the only night I sit down and watch TV. I pay for it the next day, but I have to give myself at least one night to relax and Mondays are usually the nights Ryan is home (this was a weird reffing night). Blue Bell hit our grocery store today and we HAD to grab a 1/2 gallon to celebrate. They only have a few flavors, so Ryan grabbed vanilla on his way home. I had a small scoop with a Butterfinger peanut butter cup on top, broken into pieces. I have never seen this candy before (stole it from B’s Halloween stash), but it was so so good!
I hopped in the shower at 11:50pm (ended up watching Dancing with the Stars too) and sat back down at the computer to look at my calendar and finish up any necessary Etsy jobs…and write this post. See? I’ll pay for this tomorrow as it’s now past 1:00am!
A pretty typical day and nothing special about any of those pictures. I just snapped along the way…when I remembered. Hope you enjoyed a peak into my day. Here’s to having a much more productive day while the kids are at pre-school for a few hours.

I get a non-fat iced caramel macchiato. I wish I could give up coffee because I like so much flavor and sweetness in mine. 🙁 Look forward to it Whitney!

You are too sweet. Let me assure you I'm pretty much a hot mess most days. At least in my head…too many things going on in there 🙂 I hope this time is going well for you! That's pretty much exactly how far apart my two are and was a difficult time for me..baby stage always is. It's so much better now…it only gets sweeter. I think the clothing issue will even out after 2yrs…I hope.

Your day is SO similar to mine it's unreal!! I also have an Etsy shop (I sell printable invitations, so kind of similar to yours!) and I stay at home with my two boys. I also have a retail booth but that's not an every day job. Some days….I just don't think I'll make it! And I am usually up till around 1am, too….working. I try to set a work schedule but it never works out with kiddos! Loved reading this…for some reason I am encouraged by it! Thanks for the peek!

Oh wow we ARE similar! I bet we'd be pretty good friends if we met! Always encouraging to see other people in similar seasons and areas of life. What's your Etsy shop name?
