Hey Friends! I’m linking up today to share a little bit about what’s been going on lately! This week my oldest went to Kindergarten so it’s been a little roller coaster.
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
This has been a busy week for us. Sunday, we had pizza at my brother’s house. Monday, we had McDonald’s on the way back from a baseball game and Tuesday we had pizza again. So pretty much a bad week. Ryan hasn’t been here the last two nights. I plan on making my crock pot beans with cornbread tonight (Wed). Thursday, we’ll have leftovers (possibly bean, cheese, chicken burritos) because we have Meet the Teacher for Maddox at 6pm. Friday, we’ll have possibly breakfast since Ryan will be home after dinner again. This weekend we plan on doing some cooking out (burgers) and enjoying Labor Day.
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
I’ve been reminiscing about a couple things lately. First, Beckham and how he’s officially in school. It’s a huge milestone for our family since he’s been with me at home since birth. A cute little baby owl one minute and a Kindergartener the next.
And I’ve also been thinking a lot about Maddox’s birth. I’m starting to think about how I want this birth to go (as much as I can). I’ve had a c-section and a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean)…both of them involved an epidural and let’s just say, an epidural leaves me feeling like crap afterwards, but I sure do appreciate them during. Lots to think about it. You can read Maddox’s birth story here and Beckham’s here.
WHAT I’M LOVING:
I’m absolutely loving spending this time with Maddox. Now that Beckham is in school, Maddox and I get to hang out and it’s been a lot of fun. He is so good and I forget how nice it is to take care of one kiddo.
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
August has been full of keeping cool and getting ready for school. We’re trying to find our new groove with a kiddo in school, a 3 year old at home, and one on the way.
WHAT I’M DREADING:
I’m honestly not dreading anything at the moment, but I can say my body has started waking up often during the might which can only mean it’s preparing for a newborn.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
I’ve been completing TONS of orders this month. I love August because it’s one of my busiest months, but I’m also trying to really prep for time off in October before the holiday season.
I’m trying to complete a lot of designs for coffee mugs for Christmas orders. And I’m working on a few pregnancy announcement photo props. Here’s one I put in the shop yesterday.
I’ve also been working on a huge sign to complete our living room makeover. I can’t wait to share pictures.
And slowly getting the nursery ready. Decorating this room has been fun.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
I’m excited about Fall! So many good things about the next several weeks. I’ve been getting adjusted this month and I’m excited to see if there are any benefits for the birth.
Beckham just started baseball too so we’re excited to start the season.
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
I really haven’t been watching any TV. And I definitely haven’t been reading. There just isn’t much time for that. I have seen some Bachelor in Paradise episodes, but that’s about it.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
I like to listen to Podcasts when I’m getting ready. And I’m a little hesitant to say I’ve popped on some Christmas music when working. I like to listen to holiday music (Michael Buble holiday on Pandora) when I’m creating products for the upcoming season.
WHAT I’M WEARING:
Jean shorts and any top that fits. I also love this dress I wore to my Baby Sprinkle a couple weekends ago.
Swimming and grilling out! Hanging out with family.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
I’m hoping I feel a lot more organized and prepared next month. I don’t know when I’ll deliver, but I’m preparing for late September (due 10/7…first pregnancy was 11 days early, second was 4 days early).
I’m really looking forward to soaking up time with Maddox. He’s also starting his two day a week preschool next month and he’s excited to see his friends again.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
I’ll post tomorrow about Beckham’s first day of school.
Bonus Questions: WHAT ARE YOUR BEST BACK TO SCHOOL LUNCH IDEAS AND/OR TIPS:
My back to school post has a few tips of how I do lunches during the school year, but my biggest tip would be to make the lunch the night before. Game changer. I make the lunch the night before and just put it in their lunch box that morning (it usually sits in the fridge overnight). I use ice packs in the lunch box.
Beckham REALLY wants to buy lunch this year. I don’t even think he wants the food, he just want to experience getting food from the lunch line. Lol. So we told him he could buy lunch once a week (if he likes the food). I actually don’t mind making his lunch as I don’t really want him eating cafeteria lunch, but will be nice to not prep one night.
You can read the lunch items I use in this post.
Beckham also gets a snack at 9:00 before they go out for their first recess so I bought some options for him to choose from what he typically enjoys.
So there is a little life update. I’m hoping to get a lot done today before the weekend!
