This weekend was a good one…low key, with family, but too quick. Friday morning we woke up to head to the Pumpkin Patch about 35 minutes away with my MOPS group. The boys were really difficult that morning (super sleepy) and needless to say, we didn’t make it out in time to be able to get there when we should have.
For some strange reason, I keep thinking I have to have some elaborate plan (specifically with friends) each day. It hit me last week that Beckham will only have one more year at home after this year and I feel like I’m rushing around spending time with too many different people and not enjoying the perks of being home. So, when we failed to get out the door on Friday, I brushed it off and decided we were going to do our own thing. We were all dressed and fed, so we got in the car and started off at Starbucks. My big boy before we headed in…love his eyes!
I let B have his own little drink (hot chocolate) to sip while we enjoyed it indoors. He never gets his own drink, so this was a big deal. Maddox enjoyed a muffin while B finished his drink.
Then we headed outdoors for races! Because B has to race all day, every day. Maddox is slowly joining in.
After our “coffee” date, we headed to the park. I’ve been looking at parks to have B’s party and I remembered this one from the summer splash pad. It will be perfect for his party. It’s very low key, not crowded, has plenty of climbing and room for running, and lots of picnic tables. We played at the park for about an hour until it started to get pretty hot.
We got back home for some lunch and a pre-nap dance party. This was Maddox getting his groove on even though you can’t tell one bit from this picture 🙂
Once Maddox went down for his nap, I worked on B’s invitations. The location is different than what’s listed there (that’s why I didn’t have to black it out). And the slide is out of place (Maddox moved it when he was playing with my mouse).
After naps and some cleaning, the boys played and we had pizza for dinner. I cannot describe the goodness of this pizza. I’ll post the recipe soon. Ryan was gone that night reffing, but the boys went to bed early and he got back shortly after.
Saturday Ryan was craving waffles so he ran out with Maddox to get some waffle mix and I made some waffles for everyone. He let me sleep in that morning (sadly it was only 7 hours of sleep…I miss those 9 hours of sleeping in days). Before waffles, B requested his morning toast…with numbers. He always chooses the number 45. I made the 4 and then ran out of room for the 5 so we broke the number down on two pieces of toast 🙂 And then he got a silly face waffle.
Ryan was on dad duty the rest of the day, while I headed out to get my hair done and visit my parents. I went over there to do my niece’s hair for her Homecoming dance. She wanted a braid. I was able to relax and enjoy their company well into the night. I didn’t get home until 1am!
Yesterday, we visited a new church, had Mexican for lunch on the patio, and I even napped. Crazy. Last night we put together a bed I brought back from my parents house that they were getting rid of. It’s the IKEA bed that has drawers underneath and was just too good to get rid of. So we put it together last night. At this point, Ryan was not amused. We could not figure out how to put it together in B’s room with the space we had. I was laughing so hard I was snorting. We figured it out and B was excited. I’ll have to show his room once we get it set up with this new bed.
It was a great weekend and I’m looking forward to a great week. My sister comes to visit this weekend so we’re all pumped to see her!
