I’ve been sharing financial tips and such for about 7 months now and you’ll notice financial peace really boils down to budgeting and living within your means!!! I’m often brought to this verse in the Bible when I think about living within my means.
What does this mean? It means that life’s true treasures are waiting for us in heaven. These treasures live forever, unlike our earthly treasures.
How do you store up treasures in heaven (assuming you are a Christ follower)? By seeking the fulfillment of God’s purposes in all we do. This is not just limited to tithing (returning 10% of your income to the God/church), but includes all acts of obedience. This verse gets me through times of jealousy and selfishness.
I share this post for two reasons:
1. As you journey to a debt free life, ignore ill choices others make regarding money and continue to live within your means and continue to tithe. God WILL bless those who obey him!
2. Do not store up treasures here on earth (Prov. 6:19), because they perish. Treasures in heaven will last for eternity!
Living within your means in America is hard, but you can feel good about it, knowing you are not “slave to the lender” and ironically, those are your average millionaires! Yep, that’s right..read The Millionaire Next Door by Stanley and Danko. And focus on those treasures in heaven.
Have a great week and keep posted for How to Start Your Budget. It’s an in depth post, so it’s taking me a while.

I love your posts!!! Because of you I have started the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover!! I feel so much more in control of everything!! Even though we are on a tight buget ( hubby, 2 kids) I feel that we have more money, cause I am telling it where to go!!! We should be debt free by Oct this year ( minus the house, as we live in Canada, and houses are very very expensive, we paid $ 469,000 for our townhouse) But I know that we will get there sooner if we keep going!!
Thanks so much!!!

Thank you Ozium! Your words are exactly why I started sharing financial tips. That is awesome that you will be out of debt by October! Stay strong and read encouraging things instead of what the world will tell you. I can't believe homes cost that in Canada. We're actually in a great spot for housing. You can get our house in California for half a million dollars. That's crazy! Keep me posted when you pay it off!
