MIA – Life Lately

I had this post for yesterday, but my blog was being weird so I’m just now uploading it today (I didn’t feel like making it present tense for the sake of it being posted a day later) 🙂

It’s Wednesday, 2 days away from Maddox’s 2nd birthday party and our house looked like this just a few days ago…

kitchen remodel

Was I an idiot for cutting it this close?  Yes.  Yes, I was.  We had our cabinets repainted, and we just got the doors and drawers put back on.  We will be able to load all our stuff back in later today.  Therefore, I’m thinking I will move Maddox’s party to a splash pad.  It would just be too overwhelming to do it here.  I could definitely pull it off, but at what expense?  My sanity probably.  It will all work out whatever we do.  Here is a sneak peak at the cabinets from last night (I snapped it after dinner so ignore that stuff).  We will redo the back splash (and add under cabinet lighting) and then I’ll do a good before and after.

The hardware is still what was on it previously but I plan on spray painting them.  I can’t decide if I want to do black or a silver color.  Thoughts?  You can see a silver color on the door on the right of the oven.  I ended up really liking the counters so we will keep those (and save hundreds of dollars, if not more) and just replace back splash.  It feels very open and clean!

In addition to not having a kitchen all week (I’ve realized the kitchen really is the hub of the house…the most used room we have), we have been just doing summer around here (staying in the A/C or outside in the water).  You can check out some videos on my Instagram.

Beckham finished up his 2 week swim lessons today and I am SOOOO proud of him.  He went from being afraid to leave the edge of the pool and put his head under water to swimming (I say that loosely) a few feet.  He loved his teacher (I think he had a crush) so he was eager to do well for her.  He swam from the edge to his teacher for 10 seconds (a quick 10 seconds) under water.  I’m hoping he doesn’t lose this confidence or knowledge over summer.  I only took video of him swimming but here’s a pic of him after sliding down the slide.

It’s been very unstructured over here, but that’s okay…that’s life, especially in the summer.  A little glimpse of our summer so far.

Yes, silver is the better choice, in my opinion. It will add a bright pop to your kitchen.

I know right! We are playing it really low key. His actual birthday is Saturday but we’re celebrating Friday. I feel like this last year went by super fast.

Did y’all pay someone to do the cabinets or do them yourself? They look great!

We hired someone to do them. Our friend from church has a construction business so we hired him. I had a friend of mine do her’s herself and she recommended NOT doing it ourselves in the stage of life we’re in. After seeing what he did, I’m glad we hired out. 🙂
