Maddox Cade: 15 Months

IMG_1879

Dear Maddox,
You just turned 15 months old and this age really has been awesome!  You are the biggest snuggler and a total mama’s boy!  You’re very shy and will stay close to me when we go into public places.  It takes you a long time to warm up.  If someone you don’t know starts talking to you, you will cry.

You adore your older brother Beckham and try and copy everything he does.  It’s the absolute best thing to watch…the bond between you two already.  You guys like to play outside a lot, go on walks in our wagon, run around the kitchen chasing each other, dance to songs, and tackle each other on Beckham’s bed.

You’ve got 8 teeth and one molar that just popped through so 9 total.  You’re in the 98% for height (they marked it as “>98%”), 75-90% for weight and head size.  Overall, a large baby!  I’m not really sure where this height came in or if it will stay, but if so, you’ll surpass your older brother at some point.
IMG_1913

I’d describe you to someone as a super chill, cuddly 15 month old.  You sleep great…going to bed around 8pm and waking up around 7:30-8am, sometimes later.  You take a 3 hour nap at home.  And when you’re at school, you sleep about an hour now and I can still put you down for a nap when we get home for another hour or two.  You’re an amazing sleeper…shocking since you were terrible for the first 6 months. You’re a very light sleeper though…I can open your door without making a peep and you’ll pop your head up.  You never scream or cry when you wake up.  You just talk and wait for us to come get you.

You no longer take any bottles of milk (despite that pic above…that was last month) and you just started sleeping with a lovie (a pink bunny)…yikes, but it’s super soft.  You still take a paci and you really love it.  I’m trying to reserve it for naps and night time only.  This will be a hurdle to get rid of in the future (at least it’s not your thumb…big bro is almost 4 and we can’t take it away).

You love your milk; drink 3 cups a day, as well as water in between.  You drink a lot of fluids.  You’re a little more picky than Beckham was with food, so dinnertime can be difficult, but overall, you’re a pretty good eater.  You love chicken, smoothies, yogurt, pickles, olives, peanut butter crackers, goldfish, raisins, Nutrigrain bars, and fruit is a toss up.  I really wish you liked veggies and fruit more.  One week you’ll inhale your pears and the next you won’t eve touch them????  #toddlereating  You’re VERY finicky with food…I just never know what you’ll like each day.
IMG_1759

I will say you’re not a big fan of your stroller, unless I hand you a snack or something.  You still sit rear facing in the car and your legs are majorly hitting the back seat.  I may have to switch out your car seat for a different one until I decide to turn you, but those long legs are crazy!
IMG_1657

You started pre-school a couple of months ago.  It was a rough start and you DID NOT like going, but you don’t cry at drop off anymore (you’re still holding on tight, but once I hand you off, you stay tight with your teacher).  You have to have Beckham drop you off with me.  If we drop him off first at his room, you go hysterical and start crying, so he walks with us to your room every time…what a good big bro.

3 moments from this month that I have to note…
IMG_1910

This was after I “disciplined” you for turning off my computer.  I told you “no no” and gently tapped your hand to let you know we don’t touch the computer.  You got so sad and burrowed yourself into my chest.  This is when I realized you are going to be so much easier to discipline than other children I won’t name 😉  I’ve already noticed times I’ll catch you getting into something, but as soon as you see me or I say no-no, you walk away (most times).

IMG_1905

This is one of my favorite moments.  After bath, you rest your head on my shoulder as I sing “You are my sunshine” and you just love it.  You’ll turn your head towards my face to see me singing it…you find it really funny.  Here you’re laughing at your brother who’s doing who knows what…he’s always making everyone laugh.

IMG_1919

I’m ordering this picture today!  This pretty much sums up your social game.  You were terrified to be put in front of an unknown person (especially worse if you’re not being held by someone).  #strangerdanger  I was JUST like this as a baby, so I can relate dude!

You are the biggest sweetheart and God blessed us tremendously when he gave us you!  You have added so much joy to our lives and I can’t wait to keep seeing you grow older and older.  I don’t know what the future holds, but I have a feeling I’m going to look back on these days and really miss them…wish you were 15 months again!  Love you to the moon and back!

Love,
Mommy
