I know some people who start their nursery before they even end their first trimester and some who probably haven’t finished when the baby comes, but I’m one that cannot start until I know if it’s a boy or girl. I love decorating so this will be a lot of fun. When I looked at a few nurseries before we found out it was a boy, I always gravitated towards boy rooms cause I was so sure it was a boy (plus they are a little harder in the making it a cute kind of room). It was a good thing, cause that is exactly what we are decorating for! I received a crib from my aunt (a pic below), but found out it was recalled for the drop down function. So I think Ryan is going to permanantly screw the front in so it can’t drop! I also was offered a glider (cream color) from a friend, but have not picked it up yet! So there are 2 huge items that we can save money on, which is a good thing considering we went to Buy Buy Baby and saw how much the other furniture was that I REALLY want. In the beginning, I was dead set on buying EVERYTHING new for our baby, but now that I’m looking more into it all, I’m glad I have friends who were willing to offer me things, especially these high priced items. I also lucked out with the paint! When we first moved in we painted all the rooms, and the nursery happens to be a khaki color. It will go perfect with my style of decorating and the fact that it’s a boy! I want to stick to cream colors, browns, and probably a pop of some color. I’m not into themes or paintings and stuff like that. It’s only a baby for a couple years before they start needing to have a more kid friendly room. Everyone has a different style and mine’s very basic and cleanline. I will have some sort of “child like” decor in there, but it will be something that hangs I’m sure. Here are some examples of my style:
Here is the crib we put up just yesterday. We still need to raise the mattress one more level. Plant is just there for now. Not sure where I’m going to land it.
This is the view of room when you walk in (ignore the mess we still have to find a place for…that’s all my seasonal decor). I plan to put the glider in the corner by the window (on right) and a dresser with hutch on the right side wall when you walk in.
…and another storage piece of furniture on the this wall by the plant. I found this cute 2×3 or 3×3 square cubby holder looking thing that has whatever colored baskets in each square holder, so I might go with that.
