Dear Beckham,
Oh my gosh, this was such a fun month! You are getting such a personality and we have so much fun every day! You are so much easier now and are on a good schedule! I go back to work in 2 weeks and I’m so sad about leaving you. No one can take care of you like mommy! I cannot wait till you’re 6 months old and I can be with you full time. I cannot tell you how much fun I have with you. I have to tell you, your daddy and I always joke that you have an imaginary friend. Every morning you sit on your boppy and stare up at the ceiling and smile like you’re talking to someone. It’s really funny and I love that you entertain yourself. When I go back to work, you will have a nanny. Her name is Heather and I think you’ll really like her. She is going to come and hang out with us one day so she can learn about your day and get to know you. She is so lucky to get to spend the next 3 months with you. I’m jealous. But I have to be thankful that I got to spend 15 weeks with you before I had to go back to work. You’re awesome.
Measurements: You didn’t have a doctor’s visit this month, but we weighed you a couple of days ago and you weigh 14 pounds. You’re a little chunky, but I love kissing on your cheeks. You’re wearing 3 months clothes and have been for a couple of weeks.
My favorite thing: I still am obsessed with your smiling! It melts my heart every time. You are talking so much more now (well, cooing). You try and mimic my noises. When I laugh or make funny sounds or bubbles, you will do the same. You still haven’t laughed yet, but I know it’s soon. You really love “talking.”
Daily Activities: You wake up around 8:00am and then feed. You sit on your boppy while I pump and we smile and talk. Then you do some tummy time and play on your play mat. After about an hour or hour and a half of being up, you get fussy and go back to sleep for your long morning nap. Then you’re on the same schedule every 3 hours (eating, playing/learning, sleep). Most of our play is still face time. You are SO observant of everything and are learning about the world around you. You also take a bath every night now to start your night time routine. You LOVE bathing!
Eating: You eat 5-6 times a day now and about 6-7 ounces at each feeding. You mostly take bottles of breastmilk now. Supposedly you should have 2.5 ounces per pound, so that’s how I came up with the amounts…and you pretty much suck those dry. Your chubby cheeks show you don’t miss a meal.
Sleeping: You are an amazing sleeper. After your 2 month appt. the doctor told me I could start eliminating your 4 am feeding, so I did and you gradually started sleeping through that time. You now sleep a good 9 hours at night. I put you down about 10:00 and you sleep till 7:30 or 8:00. I’m trying to put you down a little earlier so I’m not up as late on week nights when I’m back at work. If I put you down, you can fall asleep on your own, which is wonderful. You nap after an hour or hour and a half of being awake between each feeding. Thank you for being such a good sleeper. I feel like a completely different mom with sleep.
Special Events:
-Your head strength is MUCH better. You can hold your head up all the way on your boppy. You’re still working on it if you lay on your mat, but getting better by the day.
-You slide off your boppy during our morning play time…guess you prefer being flat on your back when we talk.
-You can bear a lot of weight on your legs and enjoy standing up quite a bit.
-You just started studying your hand intently. I think you just realized your hand is part of your body 🙂
-You drool a lot and spit…no clue why.
-You love when I make this spitting noise in my throat…you even made a tiny laugh when I was doing that in front of the mirror (which you love looking at by the way).
Here are some pictures of you in the last month!
