Dear Beckham,
Every day I’m realizing I love you more than the day before! At this rate, I think my body is going to physically explode due to being so in love with you! I’m slightly worried if I will be psychotic when it comes to you and dating when you are 18…hahaha! I promise I’ll be “cool!”
You have such a great personality! You’re very happy. It takes quite a bit to make you mad…hunger mostly! 🙂 It kills me to come home around 4:15 and only get to see you for a few hours before you go to bed!
Ok, so enough about me loving you too much! You have just learned to roll over. All the books and Internet sites said you “should” roll over from tummy to back and then back to tummy shortly after. You mastered rolling over from your back to tummy though first, so it has made the last few nights pretty difficult for us. You face plant when you roll over (although you’re starting to turn your head), so we have to either roll you over or watch you carefully to make sure you’re still breathing. I know it is just a short phase, as I see you getting better each day! Heather said she saw you roll from your tummy to back once today. So I’m sure we’ll see you do it this weekend.
Speaking of weekend, we started volunteering back at church, which means you go to the nursery. Wow, that was hard to drop you off last Sunday! I’m getting so much better though and realizing if you get off schedule one day, it won’t kill you. They said you did great and when I came to pick you up, you were sleeping! Still don’t like the fact that all you babies stick the same toys in their mouths. Speaking of toys, we forgot your favorite one last time! I need to start labeling everything now…ugh!
I have to tell you about your bath time! You LOVE your bath! You also started sucking the heck out of my arm when I clean your back…I think that is your favorite time! It’s like you wait for it the entire time and then suck like crazy…definitely think you’ll cut a tooth soon! Anyway, it never fails, as soon as I start putting your clothes on you, you start whining horribly. I can’t help but laugh! Sorry. Then you know it’s a bottle, cuddle, and bed!
So every new mom anxiously waits to see what color eyes their baby will have. Yours were very dark blue when you were born. They got a little lighter, but are this weird dark green, but a little blue, with a hint of brown in the middle (you can only see it if your pupil is really small). So I have NO idea what color you will have. I’m thinking you’ll have hazel like me. We have EVERY color in both our families, so who knows.
Lastly, you talk and squeal SO much and are starting to sit up a little. Progressing just as you should! I’m so blessed with exactly how you are! You’re healthy and happy!
Measurements: No well visit this month, but last time I weighed you (few days ago) you were close to 17 pounds!
My favorite thing: Lately, I have savored our bath time and bed time feeding. You laugh and get so excited to take your bath…it makes me happy when I see you like that. Feeding you at night is so amazing. You cover your eyes with your hands and end up falling asleep. I then get to put you on my shoulder and cuddle you as long as I can before I put you down. You go down easy for all your naps without needing assistance, so I don’t care about rocking you to sleep (some books say I shouldn’t)! It’s my favorite!!! And of course, I’m super pumped about you rolling over! It makes me proud to see you hit milestones!
Daily Activities: You’re schedule is still pretty similar in the morning. Your tummy time is much better and you actually don’t mind it too bad. Another activity I love is our evening walk. After we talk and play when I come home from work, we go for an evening walk around 6. You LOVE strolling around! It’s a battle to get you in your stroller, but once we step outside, you’re in awe!
Eating: You eat 4 times a day, usually at 8, 12, 4, and 8! You’re taking 7 oz at each feeding. You’re still on breast milk only! Doc didn’t really mention you eating solids until after your 6 month appointment. I wanted you to be exclusively on breast milk for as long as possible. You are SO interested in MY food. I actually feel bad eating in front of you. You stare at me like a begging dog salivating at the mouth. So we’ll start solids when your 6 months. Cannot wait for that adventure! Speaking of salivating…you wear a bib 24/7 unless you’re asleep…you’re a drool monster!
Sleeping: I couldn’t ask for a better sleeper! Right after you turned 4 months, I started moving your bed time back from 10:30 to 8:30…you did EXTREMELY well with that. You now go to bed around 8:30 and wake up around 8:00. Lately, you’ve wanted to go to bed earlier, but you’ve also woken up earlier. I rather you keep 8-8 so we can sleep a little on the weekend. The last few days, we’ve had to move you in the middle of the night because you get stuck from rolling and start crying. Pretty sure it’s a phase like I said. Couldn’t ask for more from you as a sleeper. You take a long morning nap (2-3 hours) and an afternoon nap (1-2 hours).

So sweet! Can you believe they're 5 months?? The time is flying. You're so lucky Beckham is totally sleeping through the night, Shelby is still a little peanut (barely 13 lbs) so I'm hoping once she hits 15 she'll sleep all night. Still waking up once, ahhh!!

I love tiny babies!!! He's quite skinny compared to Ryan and I as a baby (we were extremely huge)! I think the weight helps a little with the sleep. His rolling around though is really disturbing his sleep…ugh! Ready for work to be done! By the way, your job sounds perfect for earning income and spending time with Shelby!
