Ten on Ten: June 2015 – A Mini Day in the Life

Hello?  It’s been a while I feel like.  We have taken on a lot of projects lately and it’s kept us very busy, so I haven’t even thought about blogging.

But yesterday was the 10th of June, which means 10 on 10 – 10 pictures on the 10th day of the month.  You can read April’s HERE (I skipped May).  Yesterday was a crazy day for two reasons…I didn’t wake up before my kids (this always starts the day unorganized) and my three year old does not listen to me…ever!  Lord help me with this one.  Y’all, his energy level is off the charts.  I’m pretty sure I would feel less tired after running a marathon than taking care of him all day.  I keep telling myself this energy will be such a great attribute in his career.  And Maddox is teething and wants to be held quite a bit.  It’s like a big game of whack-a-mole 24/7.

Alas, here are 10 pictures from yesterday.

Ryan let me sleep in till 8:30 and when I woke up, I fed this little guy a blueberry pancake and strawberries.

I decided to skip Maddox’s morning nap so we weren’t house bound the entire day, and we went to a baby class at the library.  I used to love to take B to the library and do these classes.  It’s a little different with a crazy toddler sitting next to me now, but clearly, Maddox enjoyed it.  He kept crawling over to other babies and taking toys away…hmmm, I wonder where he learned that.

Maddox fell asleep in the car when we left, so I decided to buy some time and let him have a cat nap (we were headed to the hair salon for summer cuts) and grabbed Raising Cane’s on the way.  I remember the first time I had this was in Shreveport, Louisiana when I was visiting Ryan during his baseball days.  We didn’t have any in Texas, so when they started popping up in our area, I was so excited.  The sauce…it’s so good!

Beckham is a pro at haircuts.  He sits so well and always has (granted his first haircut was after 2 years old).  I had planned on snapping a picture of Maddox too, but he is not a pro.  The kid grabbed onto me so hard, it felt like a little kid’s grasp.  He screamed so loud, I’m sure all of McKinney heard him.  I apologize to all the other clients that had to endure the 3 minute haircut meltdown.  Apparently, he’s terrified of sheers (his first trim a month ago was not a problem).  It broke my heart though.  The lady was awesome and cut his hair within 3 minutes and everything was straight. 🙂  The second I picked him up and gave him a balloon, it was like nothing had happened.

And then you get home and realize your toddler snuck a chocolate cake pop to your 11 month old in the back seat.  No wonder he likes Beckham.

Back at home and had to snap a picture of their summer cuts.  Ignore the sweat on Beckham’s back…it’s officially summer in Texas.  You just sweat all day long (we had actually just gotten out of the car).

Then I spent over an hour cleaning my bedroom and master bath (wiped down the counters, mirrors, and toilet as well).  I had let it go big time.  It feels so much better to have a clean space in our room.  Don’t you love a good before and after?!  My mom came over after a training she had in McKinney and stayed there till our evening Bible study.

Bible Study started last night.  It’s one of my favorite things to do in the summer.  I’ve been meeting together with this group of ladies for 6 years.  It’s at my aunt’s house in Denton (about 45 minutes away), but it’s worth it.  We all are (or have been) teachers.  We’re studying the book of John this summer.

I love this picture because it’s a time I’ll remember…munching on snacks and chatting with my grandmother, mom, and aunt!   The kids were taken care of at home, so I enjoyed “me” time.

I have to end with this adorable 3 week old kitten.  One of my aunt’s cats had 3 kittens.  I’m not a pet person at all, but I think kittens (and puppies) are so stinkin’ cute!
These pictures are just snippets of my day.  It was actually a trying day at time with motherhood, but tons of blessings to be thankful for.  I enjoyed a long ride home with loud country music playing in the car…my favorite way to ride in the car during the summer!
I have a Life Lately post coming soon and let’s just say the biggest news is I’m free!  Free from this…
