Our summer officially began last week, and Ryan and I recently talked about some things we would like to do this summer! If you’re new here, Ryan is a high school teacher and so he has a few weeks off in the summer (he’s currently doing a half day summer school). Here’s Beckham and Maddox last summer! Wow, they’ve both changed a lot. Maddox had just learned to walk and now he’s keeping up (almost) with his brother.
Here’s our Summer Activity List, things we want to do this summer…some are big and some are small activities!
Vacation with the boys: Our plans are to either go to Destin, Florida or Great Wolf Lodge. We’ve been to Destin when Beckham was 1.5 years old, but certain things need to fall into place for that to happen with both boys. If not, we are thinking about taking them to Great Wolf Lodge, a resort and water park nearby. Either way, we’ll have a little get away.
Golf with Beckham: I think it’d be fun for Ryan, or both of us, to take Beckham to a golf range and let him hit some golf balls. Fun fact: He’s right handed and swings a club and bat left handed.
Movies: Movies are our thing! We plan on going to see movies, both by ourselves and with the boys (well, just Beckham…Maddox is too young).
Water Balloons: The kids would love to have a water balloon fight!
Maddox’s Birthday: We are going to celebrate our sweet boy this month!
Splash Pads: In Texas, if you’re outside during the summer, you really need to be submerged in water. The boys love splash pads and we have a ton around town. I usually take lunch with us to eat while we’re there. Here are the boys last year at a splash pad…
Vacation Bible School: If the dates don’t conflict with our vacation, then we will send Beckham to VBS at a local church close to us.
Legoland: Our boys will LOVE this! A place full of Legos and activities centered around them? Right up their ally!
The Aquarium: I’ve been to the aquarium with my 3rd graders when I was teaching and I’d love to go back with the boys. We might even take the DART (transit system) down there.
Playstreet Museum and/or The Coop: Two indoor play places for the kids to enjoy!
Anniversary Getaway: We’re waiting till our 10 year anniversary next year to go on a bigger vacation by ourselves (which we have not done since having kids), but this year we are hoping to get away for a couple of days. Ryan said he has a place picked out, but I have no clue! We will celebrate 9 years of marriage in August!
We will do some other fun things this summer like visit the library, dine at a fun restaurant (hibachi or games), swimming, cookout, have friends over, snow cones, maybe go to a baseball game, and more. And many days we will do simple things at the house. We also have some house projects that we’re planning on completing this summer too. I’ll share along the way.
Hope you had a great weekend. We ended ours with church, BBQ, and an evening indoors with lots of rain!

We have a lot of similar things on our summer to-do list. We also HEAVILY utilize our library over the summer. They have lots of great summer programming for kids, and a wonderful summer reading program that my daughter has done over the past couple of summers. Enjoy!

We’re celebrating 9 years next month, and planning a smaller getaway too! Loving all your ideas for summer!
