So life has been busy lately. We’re running around like busy little ants trying to prepare for this baby. My goal was to get all major things for baby done by the end of August. I have this weird feeling she’ll come in September (I’m due 10/7) and I hate being unprepared. Ryan is back at work full time (and more) so it’s been hard with the two little ones at home and the “I’m so bored” stage of summer in full swing.
Not to mention it’s too dang hot to do anything. We went to the park yesterday and the boys looked like they were having a heat stroke by their red cheeks and sweaty skin.
I’ve got a 32 week appointment today and I’ll have an update tomorrow. Things are getting hard. I wouldn’t be surprised if she fell right out with all the activity I’m doing daily.
ANNIVERSARY: First things first, Ryan and I celebrated are 10 year anniversary this past weekend. Years prior to this year, we decided we were going to take a big trip to celebrate (most likely going back to Jamaica where we honeymooned). Then I got pregnant. Then reality hit and I realized I’d pretty much be miserable the entire time, plus I’m not even sure I can fly at this point. So we’re saving that fun trip for another year.
We decided to go back to the hotel where we stayed the night of our wedding. We got married on a Friday night, stayed at this hotel, packed and prepared for our honeymoon on Saturday, and then headed out on Sunday for Jamaica. #bestdecisionever I can’t imagine having to pack AND get ready for a wedding at the same time.
Anyway, we stayed at the Omni Park West in Dallas and it was really neat to reminisce. They had chocolate strawberries and champagne when we arrived. We had dinner at Dovers Grill there in the hotel (we’ve eaten here before and love it). And another treat for dessert…complimentary. It was stormy the whole night which is my favorite weather.
The next morning we slept in till 10:30!!! And all the night owls said “Amen.” We went straight down and had a HUGE breakfast, then back up to veg a bit before heading back. Can I just say what a vacation it is to wake up when WE want to, have someone cook me breakfast, and read/work without anyone asking me for anything. #momlife
HOUSE UPDATES: I don’t want to reveal rooms just yet until I can do a proper before and after post, but I look around our house and realize we’ve done so much to our house. Here in the last couple of months, we’ve done a lot of decluttering and decorating.
Sunday we got back from our short staycation and crossed a ton off our to do list. We replaced a toilet seat, bought a TV, cleaned/organized the garage (this was huge…still needs to be cleaned out more, but will suffice for now), moved our old TV cabinet to the garage with our old TV, set up our new TV on our new TV stand, put away some baby clothes, ordered birth certificates for my kids (yes, you read that right…I never sent off for them when they were born #soembarassing), bought a new rod for baby’s curtains, and added some last minute items to our fireplace.
Here’s a sneak peek at our fireplace:
I’m not certain I’m keeping the turqoiuse frame there, but I have it there for now. I’d like something a little shorter so you can see the top of the glass vase more. I love the simplicity and style of it though.
And here is a sneak peek at the new TV stand and TV:
This was at night so the lighting is bad and we haven’t put the devices like DVD player and such on the hidden shelves yet, but we love how it all looks. Ryan is holding out for some “amazing” TV to go on sale that I know nothing about so he bought this one for the time being. The whole room looks put together so now I just need to finish organizing this stand and putting a little decor on it and I’ll do a post about the before and after. You won’t believe the change that new floors and paint did to this room!
And lastly, here is a sneak peek at the nursery. I bought these two signs at Hobby Lobby when they were on sale of course. They’ll go above this dresser, which is also the changing table. I’m obsessed with them. You can see the pink on her walls that I was talking about in my last post.
And here are the fan pull chains I ordered…they’re the perfect touch to this room.
So there are just a few updates we’ve made in the last month or two.
GOALS: I haven’t posted my goals in a while, but I don’t have specific ones right now. I have some general goals and to do lists floating around my head and planner.
My main goal is to get major things done for the baby by the end of August. Things such as register for items I still need (not that I’m doing a shower that’s really advertising these items, but it’s a good place to keep a list of what I still need to buy). I’d also like to get her room done (this might be a stretch, but it is possible…at least the decor part of it). I already registered for hospital and sent off our bills to Samaritan Ministries (praise Jesus for no pregnancy/birth costs…seriously this ministry has been a life saver). Those are the big things.
Another main priority for me this month was getting all things ready for the boys’ school. You can read my post here about how I did that. We have Meet the Teacher for both boys coming up and then Beckham starts the 28th. I’m so nervous for him to start. I have no idea what to expect with MY child going to school. I’ve always been on the other side of it as a teacher so it’s weird that I now have a kid going to school.
There are two major DIY projects I’d like to finish before the baby and that’s a HUGE wooden sign for above our couch and refinishing the kitchen table. I have all the stuff for the sign, I just need to start it. I’ll post the process on the blog when I finish. I’m uncertain I’ll get to the table, but that would be great if I did.
My new planner should be coming in the mail soon and that’s like Christmas to me! I can’t wait to fill it all out. #planneraddict I also have a baby sprinkle coming up with my family this Saturday. And then I’ll have a friend one in September!
So that’s a little of life lately around here. Just counting down the days till cooler weather, anything below 85!

Loved reading this update! I’m also pregnant and already have a toddler and I’m so unmotivated to complete the high hopes I had of fixing up the house this summer. I’m about to return to work (teacher) ugh!! You have inspired me to try to get a little bit done this week though…your house looks beautiful 🙂
