Last Thursday, we decided to throw a very last minute gender reveal. After going to my 12 week appointment last Tuesday and seeing the sonogram, I left even more convinced it was a boy. I got the results sealed in an envelope and took them home to see how Ryan and I wanted to do this.
I had ordered a set of baseballs on Etsy for Beckham to hit in order to reveal the gender. I was going to give my best friend the envelope and have her hand us the correct baseball. Last minute we decided to do it at our house and invite both of our families.
They each live 35-45 minutes away, so I knew I wanted to feed them if they came over. We decided to grill out and make an evening out of it. We made hamburgers and hot dogs!
As soon as everyone got there, we went outside to do the reveal. If you didn’t see on my Instagram, here is the video:
He hit the baseball and…
Yep…
I could NOT believe it. I’m not kidding, I was 100% certain it was going to be a boy. I had only been thinking of boy names and prepping Beckham for a brother (he really wanted a sister).
WE ARE HAVING A GIRL!!!
Even typing those words, is still so foreign to me. I’m still in shock and it’s been 3 days. It’s so weird to think I have a little girl in me. I think when you have only one gender, it’s weird to even think you can have a different gender. All I know are BOYS. I’ve always thought I’d have boys, but I am extremely excited it’s a girl.
Beckham has been talking about having a little sister even before we got pregnant. I was more concerned about how he would react. Maddox doesn’t really know what is going on. If you ask him if he’s having a little sister or brother, he says “boy.” ???
My dad got a good reaction from Beckham after he hit the ball, but I cannot get that video to upload. This is a video my sister captured from a different angle and it shows Beckham’s excitement. It’s quick, so watch right after he hits the ball!
And here are some pictures from the reveal
Littlest brother “excited it’s a girl”…we just told him to smile 🙂
And this chick right here was incredible! She kept this secret all day and had the best poker face. I really couldn’t read her. She brought pink cupcakes and balloons and a gift (all hidden in her car until the reveal). She made it special. Thank you Kristen!
Ryan’s hunch was a girl, but I convinced him it was a boy after the sonogram (there was a very noticeable “bump”, even though the sonographer said it could be either boy or girl at this stage). This will take some getting used to, but I’m over the moon excited to have something different and see how this might soften my boys…all of them (it’s a pretty typical boy house over here x10)!
We are so thankful for our family who came out to celebrate with us. Any advice on raising girls is appreciated! 🙂

So excited for you guys! A daughter is such an amazing experience! I have one of each, my son is my little man and I he is my pride and joy! My daughter was the first born, they are 10 years apart, she is 19 and he is 9. I am so thankful I got to experience raising both a daughter and son. She is my best friend now that she is grown and the bond between her and her brother is so strong. I know it’s a little different with the ages of your kids, but they will adore her and so will you!

Congratulations! Prayers for you as you enjoy looking forward to this little one joining your family! (We had two girls and then my boy was my third – so I understand a little of how you were feeling thinking it was going to be the same gender! So fun! 🙂 )

I know right…being a boy mom, it’s hard to picture anything different. I won’t believe it till she’s in my arms!
