Dear Maddox,
You just turned 2 and if I had to describe you in one word it would be HAPPY. You always have a smile on your face and find joy in such small things. You are a cuddly, sweet, silly dude. You are the perfect addition to our family.
We went to your well check yesterday and your still large! 93% for height (36 1/2 inches) and 82% for weight (30lbs 15oz). I was certain you would slow down in your growth since birth (we are not tall), but looks like you might out grow your big brother. You love your milk, so I’m pretty sure that accounts for 99% of your growth since you won’t touch many foods, including all veggies.
You sleep like a champ. About 11-12 hours at night and a 2-3 hour nap. You recently started wanting us to rock you before we put you down to sleep. I don’t mind it as I love cuddling (Beckham never cuddled much). You’re still in your crib and have not climbed out.
Since turning 1, you have learned to run, jump, throw, kick, squirt a water gun, swim with a puddle jumper, color, use words (you said maybe two words at 1), and many other things. You are left-handed and also kick with your left foot predominately. Your daddy is left-handed so we weren’t too surprised.
Around 19 months, you stopped using your pacifier. We forgot it for preschool one day and that was pretty much it. Your teachers said you fell asleep without it, so we didn’t give it to you at home and a couple days later, you were paci free. We definitely lucked out, but thank you for making that easy. You’re also showing signs of wanting to use the potty, but not enough to make me start potty training. You did pee in the toilet once, but it was good timing. 🙂
Since nearing 2 years old, and now that you’re officially 2, I can see that “crazy” two year old behavior start to develop. You love hitting people and think it’s hilarious. Your influence (older bro) of behavior is nothing but highly energetic, and it’s definitely rubbing off on you. You were running wild, turning circles, and jumping on the couch today…I looked at your daddy and said, “And this is our calm baby.” I’m afraid I’ll have two very energetic boys and I’m not sure how I’ll keep up. Still you are pretty mild in comparison and I love the different personalities you and your brother have. You really have been a breeze.
Speaking of brother, you want to do everything he is doing. Everything. You will follow him around and play whatever he’s playing or mimic him during other activities. And you’ll give him a good slap on the head in brotherly love when you’re upset with him 🙂 More people are saying you two look a lot alike.
You started a 2 day preschool program when you were 14 months old and you’ll continue that next year too. This is our last year with brother at home, so we will cherish it…I don’t know what you’re going to do without him when he goes to Kindergarten in a year, but I can’t wait for the one on one time.
You bring so much joy to our lives and I can’t wait to see how you grow in year 2. I love you so much. You are my sunshine!
Love,
Mommy
