Hello friends! I’ve been a little silent this week, but really loud things are going on in my head 🙂 I’ve been busy creating new signs for my shop and thinking really hard about the direction I want this blog to go. I’m most likely going to switch over to WordPress. I feel I can give better, more organized content with WordPress, but I’m afraid of losing readers if I transition. If you have any tips on that, please share. Plus, there are a ton of other ideas floating around in my head about what content to share. Needless to say, my “business” side has been in full force this week. And I’ve loved it! Thankful that Ryan is home half of the day so I can focus on some of these things.
Next week, I’m doing a more organized Friday Favorites. Answering more specific questions for Friday Favs instead of it being random. I might even start a Link Up. Would you join? Of course, you could still link up with your other favorite bloggers as well.
Here are some of my favorites this week!
{ONE} THESE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
They’re simply one of the best recipes I’ve made (not my own recipe). They use cake flour and bread flour and dark chocolate chip morsels (I use Nestle Tollhouse). But the best part is the sprinkle of salt on top (use Sea Salt or Kosher salt).
{TWO} NAIL POLISH
It’s no secret I’m obsessed with nail polish, but if I had to pick my favorite, I would pick this one. It’s Sinful Colors “Folly.” It’s a pinkish red. It looks like a dark magenta in the bottle, but comes out more red. I love it. Sinful Colors is probably my favorite brand to use. They have a million colors, their polish stays on just as well as other brands, if not better, and they’re inexpensive ($1.99).
{THREE} BIBLE STUDY
Every summer I go to a Bible study in Denton and it’s so encouraging each week. It’s one of my favorite nights of the week. Our leader is such a breath of fresh air in this overly accepting society with no morals. I learn so much each Wednesday. It’s officially over for the summer, but we meet one last time for dinner.
{FOUR} PLAY DATES
The boys and I met some of our favorite friends at The Coop yesterday and both of them had such a blast. We played for over an hour, then had lunch down the street, then came back and played another hour. Below, we were attempting a picture with all 5 kiddos. Can you see Maddox sinking into the ball pit?
{FIVE} DESIGNING
I could literally design all day long. I have one million different ideas, some already created and some waiting to be created. If I could just add them all to my shop!!! Here are a few I added to the shop this week.
{SIX} RUNNING A HALF MARATHON
I was reading one of my favorite blogs the other night and Mel talked about how she started training for a half marathon. It got me thinking, maybe I should sign up for a race to force me to workout and run. I decided I’d start with a 5K. Then maybe do a 10K. So, then I mentioned it to my best friend to see if she wanted to race any with me and she had been thinking the same exact thing. Except, her friends had talked her into a half marathon (well, it was on her bucket list so she agreed), and she asked me to do it with her as well. I knew I wanted to do a half marathon, but thought I’d tackle that in the beginning of next year. Well, the race is October 24!!!! Y’all that is exactly 3 months away. The tough thing is I live in Texas and 2 of the 3 months left will include temperatures above 100 degrees. I think I can run early in the morning when the temps are around 80 degrees. I’m excited, but nervous for sure. I still plan on doing a 5K before then so that my first race isn’t a half marathon 🙂 Wish me luck. And if you have a program you’d recommend for half marathons, let me know.
Have a great weekend!

Thank you Ashley! That is so sweet! I like knowing what you like…it helps me know what readers like to read.

Yay for half marathons! You'll get addicted! Running is such great stress relief, and having a date planned will help you stay committed to it! Make sure your tennis shoes are a size bigger than what you would regularly wear, and that you eat plenty of bananas! I have done two full marathons and 4 halfs.

Thanks MarathonBride! Thanks for the tips…I definitely need to get a good pair of running shoes! I like bananas in smoothies and fruit salads, but hate them alone…but I hear they help with cramping!

I would follow you over to word press! And I like to go out in my neighborhood around 8 or 8:30 because it's usually cooler (relatively speaking!) but having the sun be out of the way helps a ton with the heat!

Thank you Katherine! Definitely need that sun gone 🙂

I will definitely still read if you move your blog. I don't understand how it all works, but I'm guessing the link would change and that's why you are worried people wouldn't go to the new link? I definitely would as I have your blog saved in my reading list on my phone and I would just update the link!
Also, I love just about all your posts, especially any that are financial or budget friendly. 🙂
joyfullyprudent says
Thanks for the input Jen…it's helpful to know that. It would actually redirect you to the new site, so it shouldn't be a problem, but you can still lose some followers. I figure anyone that really cares, will know where to find me. 🙂 I have been thinking about changing the name of the blog, but that would definitely make things confusing…or could. I don't know…I don't get the technical side of websites all too well.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that still likes to highlight in my bible !! And those cookies look delish !

Switch to whatever works for you 🙂 I think reader's will still read wherever you post! I use blogger & have considered the switch myself, let me know what you think! I'd totally link up if you do one! 🙂 I love your budgeting posts and really enjoyed when you did your grocery series & meal plans. You & I have boys VERY similar in age (mine are 11/29/11 & 11/05/13) so I always love to see what you have to say since we are essentially in the same season of life! 🙂 Happy Monday!
