24 Week Update:
For some reason I have been waiting to reach 6 months! I’m not exactly sure why, but I think it has to do with getting over that awkward pudgy stage and looking a little more pregnant! I went to my 6 month appointment on Tuesday and was able to meet another “on call” doctor in case it comes to that, which it very well may considering he’s due around Thanksgiving! I hope my doctor is there, and have a feeling he will tell me to call him regardless if he’s on call or not, but I do love the other doctor as well! We basically talked about how I wanted my delivery to look and his views on it all! Totally matched up!
It was a routine appt. with blood pressure, weight, peeing in a cup, and measuring my growth! Everything looked great! This was the month I gained the most! According to their scales, I gained 7 pounds! Oh my! I did go on vacation 4 days prior so I guess I can’t beat myself up too bad! He also said I’m measuring “exactly where I should be at 24 weeks, so don’t listen to anyone who says you’re too small or you look like you’re having twins.” 🙂 So funny! I have been told I look small for 6 months, but I really think 6 months just sounds bigger than what I look like. I take it as a compliment and never get offended! I’ve seen smaller than me, so it’s all good! I think I’m too big, so hearing people say that actually makes me feel better! Next visit (28 weeks), I will do the diabetes test and get my Rhogam shot since my blood type is negative. Ryan and I are also going to get a 4D ultrasound, so I think we will do that sometime after our visit! I can’t wait to see what he will look like. I’m hoping he’s a mini Ryan, but we’ll see! Here I am at 6 months:
Symptoms – Baby Snydes is moving differently now. It’s more of a moving/rolling than his normal jabs, which I always truly love! Needless to say, the movements are a little more uncomfortable. I can literally feel him kick my bladder, which will make for an interesting school year! I teach from 8:00-11:15 with no breaks and leaving 8 year olds in a room, especially at the beginning of the year is not my favorite. Luckily the bathroom is right across the hall from me! I have picked up a symptom I never thought I’d have! Mainly because I had never experienced it before….. HEARTBURN! Feels like I’m going to throw-up but, it’s just staying in my esophagus! I can feel it in the middle of my chest and right below it (kind of in my upper stomach area). And the first time I got it, it lasted from morning till I went to bed. It was worse right after I ate or drank anything except water! I guess I will have to be weary of what I eat, but man it’s not fun! Hoping I just had a really bad dose of it the other day. Other than that, pregnancy is well!
4 Year Anniversary!
Ryan and I celebrated 4 years of being married on Wednesday, August 10! I can’t explain how cool it is to be married to my best friend! We had a great day on Wednesday! First we woke up extremely early to plant new plants in our backyard (well Ryan let me sleep in while he got up)! His mom came over at 6:45 with all the plants, mulch, and soil we needed to re-do our backyard! If you know me, you know I kill anything that is green and have no idea how to plant or what to plant! I’m sure his mom thinks I’m swell…and I can’t sew either! 🙂 The yard looks great. They cleared out all the dead plants from the flower bed and planted nandinas and monkey grass! All we have to do now is mow and edge!
Here are some BEFORE pictures (although they cleaned out most of the bad stuff before I could take a pic):
And here is is AFTER:
Afterwards, we went to get a massage and detox bath (I couldn’t get that, but Ryan enjoyed it). I’m here to say that prenatal massages are nothing like a real massage where you can lay on your stomach! She had to do my back with me laying on my left side. And while I was on my back, Baby Snydes kept kicking me! It did feel very good to get a massage, but I cannot wait to get a Swedish massage and not prenatal. Ryan said his therapist talked the entire time. He’s never had that happen, but said it was quite comical. Much needed though after working in the yard all morning.
Afterwards we went to Chili’s to grab a light lunch. We shared my favorite…egg rolls and then split the turkey sandwich! We went home and both crashed! I napped for 2 hours and he napped for 3! It was such a good nap! You know those naps you don’t feel bad about at all? 🙂
Once we woke up and decided where to eat and what to see at the movies, we had only about an hour to eat so we decided to go to Christina’s. They have my favorite dessert in the whole world – Apple Pie, but it’s no ordinary apple pie. They layer a hot skillet with “mexican butter” then apple pie with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top! I forgot to take a before shot, so this tells how good it was:
After dinner we went to iPic theaters, formerly known as Gold Class Cinema, and saw Crazy, Stupid, Love. It was pretty good. Steve Carell is so funny! We got a free popcorn since we sat in the premium plus seats. We also ordered a peanut butter pie! Man it was good! Along with our diet coke and water. Such a good night. Here I am in the theater before the movie:
Couldn’t have asked for a better day with my man. Great way to end the summer as well. Here is the best part. We did ALL of this for a very little amount. $$$$$$ So, we got 2 massages, lunch at Chili’s, dinner at Christina’s, and a movie and food at iPic ALL FOR $53!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Easily this would have cost $200! Yay for saving…I’m such a dork!
