It’s been since September that I last did this link up. So I’m happy to be joining up again.
I’m linking up today to share what’s been going on lately!
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
When Ryan is gone so much, dinner can be a struggle with just myself, a 5 year old, and a picky toddler. We rock breakfast a lot for dinner. This week I’m making:
Monday – Biscuits, Eggs, Bacon, and Skillet Potatoes
Tuesday – Chimichangas (I took some pictures to share on the blog) with leftover Mexican rice
Wednesday – BBQ pork and baked potatoes (just throw a pork roast in crockpot with a beer or Dr. Pepper and add some bbq sauce at the end). I like to stuff mine into a baked potato. We might have community group this night, if so we’ll move this to the next night.
Thursday – BBQ pork sandwiches (if leftovers)
Friday – Spaghetti and Meatballs
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
I’ve been reminiscing about how easy it was to clean my house before children. I would wake up every Saturday and clean my house in about 2 hours. I just cannot seem to figure out how to clean my house…I can’t even figure out how to pick up my house.
A picture of my clean kitchen…this is pretty much the only room I am good at keeping clean. I clean it about 2-3 times a day though…thoroughly.
WHAT I’M LOVING:
Motivational and inspiring videos (I watch a lot on YouTube). I have not been feeling inspired lately and am more of a “just get through the day” kind of attitude lately. I’ve got a lot on my mind and sometimes it paralyzes me, but I’m also a believer in creating the life you want and finding joy in every circumstance.
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
A lot of good things have happened in February for me (I’ll share more details later). We have been in the process of looking at new floors for our house. I also celebrated my 32nd birthday this month, so last week was full of fun activities.
I also got to go to one of my best friend’s baby shower and celebrate her little miracle.
We also had my nephew’s 2nd birthday party where they had face painting.
I’m not so much dreading this as I am not enjoying it, and that is, the weather. It’s February here in Texas and it’s been in the upper 70’s (even 80’s). While I love that temperature, this just means we get no break from our dreaded summers. Our summers of 100+ degree heat last at least 5 months, so I anticipate cold weather. I’m bummed we didn’t get cold weather. I think we dipped into the 30’s 1 or 2 days this year.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
MY HUSBAND BEING HOME!!! Anyone who has a hubby that works a lot or travels frequently knows how hard it is to stay home with your kids all day, manage the house alone, and work from home. I wouldn’t trade being home with the kids for anything, but it gets hard…a lot. I’m grateful my husband works so hard for our family, but we’re excited to see him a bit more! Simple things like cleaning up the kitchen while he plays with the kids or gives them a bath are so helpful, because then I’m not up later doing it.
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
I just finished The Good Wife and LOVED it. It was my show that I watched after I put the kids to bed.
My husband and I just finished Breaking Bad. We really liked how it ended. It actually took a while for us to get into this, but were hooked the last couple of seasons.
We watch Grey’s Anatomy together and I am watching The Bachelor every Monday.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Nothing really. I started a new Podcast called The Strategy Hour. It’s for business.
WHAT I’M WEARING:
Lots of leggings and basic shirts lately. It’s my favorite outfit, but this hotter weather is forcing me to get ready for shorts.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
I have nothing planned yet! I think we are getting together with our community group on Sunday, but that is still in the air. This is the in between time from soccer to tee-ball so our Saturdays are free right now. It’s kind of nice.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
I have some big things coming down the pipes next month that I will share soon. I’m also looking forward to Spring Break. Ryan’s SB is the beginning of March this year. We haven’t planned anything, but are looking into something close by to do with the boys. We also want to use that time to get our floors done and paint our living room and kitchen.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
Nothing much.
Bonus Question: What is your “can’t live without” beauty product?
Umm this is really hard. I physically could not live without my Chapstick. I put it on every night before bed (I can’t sleep if I don’t have something on my lips) and throughout the day.
Another thing I can’t live without is my face wash. I honestly think I’ve only gone to bed without washing my face once in my life. It was in college and I stayed with my friend at her house and we got back so late, I just fell asleep without washing it. I use this every morning and the night time version for night. I also use Rodan and Fields every now and then.
And my 2 must haves for make-up are powder (preferably a good coverage one since I don’t use foundation) and mascara. If I’m in a hurry, those are the two things I put on (at least just mascara). I’m a big Maybelline mascara girl!
Have a great Wednesday. I’m off to pick up my Zaycon chicken.

Would love to know more about this Zaycon chicken and beef. The link you referred to in the older post does not work. 🙂

Hey Angie,
I went to the post and checked the link. It should work…I’m not sure what was wrong. Did it take you to another page?
Abigail says
I completely forgot about Zaycon and they offer it in my area so I think I’m going to have to try it, but I wish they offered just chicken breast!!! Thanks for the reminder and have a great rest of your week!!
JoyfullyPrudent says
Thanks Abigail. Not sure if your area offers different things, but our area does just chicken breasts. We order the chicken, ground beef, and ground turkey. Hope you like it.

I, too, find that I am just getting through the day. A lot of the reason is that I too have a husband that was gone a lot and the children, house, bills…everything fell on me. It does become a lot and does dampen your spirit. I find that when i get like this that I am not seeking the Lord like I should so I have been trying to make more time for that.
JoyfullyPrudent says
I think your completely right Kelly. I find that when it’s super stressful, I’m not spending enough time with God.

I can imagine how much you want a break when your summers are so long and hot. I, on the other hand, shared in my WUW post that the thing I’ve been loving is our warm weather here in upstate NY – highs in the 50s!! I guess it’s one of those things that’s completely relative… 🙂
JoyfullyPrudent says
Haha…I have a lot of friends who like it too. I love the temperature but man it’s gonna be a long summer 🙁

I LOVED The Good Wife! You just reminded me that I think I DVR’d the new spinoff! I need to go check that out once these kids go to bed! So glad you found me through that link-up! Our lives sound really similar!! 🙂
JoyfullyPrudent says
I know I want to watch the spinoff too. Curious how it will be without Alicia in it. Glad I found you through the link up too.
