Well this is a long overdue post, but I finally decided to take some updated photos of our new living room. In May, we got new floors (they’re laminate) and decided to re-do a lot of the decorating in the living room and kitchen to change things up.
The biggest change we did was paint! We used the color Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter. I’ll explain more details with the pictures.
Here is the before (I had to dig out some pictures as I forgot to take before pictures).
And here are some after pictures…
Above the love seat, I’m planning on putting a 4ft x 3ft sign above it. I’ve been working on it, but am having trouble getting it to straighten out. This is the sign that will be above the couch. It will be framed out.
I had been eyeing this mirror for 2 years. It’s from Kirklands, but didn’t want to purchase it until we had redone the living room. I’m so obsessed with it. I got the decor around it from Hobby Lobby (cotton, jar, frame, and the S…well, that was a gift). The small plant is from IKEA.
We also got this rug to make it more cozy. I am really obsessed with it and it’s super soft and plush. I got it from Wayfair and I got the size 9×12.
This piece also makes me super happy! You might be surprised to find out that I got it at Walmart! It’s from their Farmhouse Collections pieces and it’s the perfect gray/wood/farmhouse piece. This space is the space I’m most excited about in the difference of this room.
Ryan got rid of his speakers (which I loathed for years) and we got this new TV. Ryan has his eye on a particular television, but it’s crazy expensive, so he got this until he one day gets the other one. This was our first TV in almost 11 years. It had been almost 11 years since we changed out our TV.
We also switched out the curtains for a lighter color to brighten up the space. We went with white curtains from IKEA as well as a simple black curtain rod from there also. I just used the ring clips (bought there too) to clip onto the curtains to hang them.
I also added the clock back up to that space. I had originally left it down but we were always looking for the time.
Here is a little before and after comparison…
I’m still working on a few more decor spaces for the living room, but I like how it is so far. I wanted super simple and minimal, as well as much brighter. I can’t tell you how much cleaner I feel like our living room is with the laminate floors. So worth it, especially with kids.
Once I get the sign up, I’ll post how I did it and what it ends up looking like on the wall. Hope you enjoyed a bit of our home!
