Life Lately–January

Since setting my January goals, I’ve really given myself grace this month to relax and not worry so much about blogging and my Etsy shop.  As a matter of fact, I always take off a couple of weeks in January after the Christmas rush to close my shop.  Well, I decided to open it a little earlier than usual and orders came in that very day.  Awesome, right?  Not so much as my computer decided it had had enough of me clicking “ignore” to updating and such and shut down a few days later.  I couldn’t even move my mouse.  I had 13 open orders (and 4 custom) and I couldn’t do a thing.  I ended up refunding majority of those orders that didn’t get out in time, as well as completing them (gotta have good customer service).  Thankfully, my dad (a computer genius) came over and cleaned up my computer…we spent a good hour backing everything up.  In the meantime, I closed my shop again for obvious reasons.  I haven’t opened back up and not really sure when I will.

As some of you know, my hubby refs basketball during the months of November to March.  He’s gone from early in the morning to way past bed time, so all the child, house, and everyday life duties fall on me.  Which is fine, but it makes it hard to get any work done or blog.  I think the computer shutting down was God’s way of letting me see that I’m trying to do too much with the little “me” time I have right now.  My “me” time right now consists of getting this post written only because I have to sit down and pump before I go to bed.  Gotta love “me” time at this stage.

Other than the computer fiasco, this has been life since Christmas.

This little guy started solids a couple of weeks ago.  He LOVES the rice cereal, but hasn’t warmed up to actual food yet.  You would have thought I was feeding him paint when he tried peas and bananas.  I did mix the two tonight and he ate it…weirdo!

This kid is obsessed with dinosaurs.  Asks me every day to play dinosaurs with him.  We roar at each other.  That’s how you “play” dinosaurs if you were curious.
IMG_9375
I love this picture because it was after Beckham “helped” entertain Maddox.  B will disobey me a lot throughout the day, but when I ask him to help me with “brother” he almost always helps out in a really loving way.

This was at Hobby Lobby.  I FINALLY finished Beckham’s big boy room.  I’ll share the pictures with you soon!

We got ice cream for being potty trained (well at least pee)!
IMG_9413
Mama deserves one too! 🙂  Chocolate chip…always!
IMG_9408
This is my life every Monday night after the boys are in bed!
IMG_9427
Not gonna lie…I look forward to bath time almost every night with Ryan gone.  I was telling Ryan, I’m pretty good up until 5:00pm and then I feel like I lose it.  I’m exhausted from the energy Beckham requires to be entertained and disciplined and the physical work Maddox requires, so by about 5pm, it’s a struggle.  And I’m pretty sure bath time ignites a whole new energy for B and he’s crazy wild at night.  Did I mention he doesn’t nap?  Super long days!  But they are cute in this picture.

And then they do this!
IMG_9467
This kid asks for mounds of food after bath.  We eat dinner before bath time and then he gets his pj’s on and asks for more food…and eats it!  I’m getting a peak into the future with teenage boys.
IMG_9473
This was a rare Saturday morning when Ryan didn’t have to leave till noon and I got to enjoy some coffee while he played with Beckham.
IMG_9471
B trying to “read” Maddox a story.  Kind of melts my heart.
IMG_9488
He’s hiding under our bed (this is behind it).  He loves playing hide and seek!  Pretty good spot if you ask me.  And don’t think I haven’t used this opportunity to get a few clothes folded or toys picked up.  “Hmm where’s Beckham?” (fold clothes)…”I’m coming Beckham” (pick up stuff).  A mama’s gotta do what a mama’s gotta do.
IMG_9496IMG_9509
Ha!  He’s playing more and more with toys.  To get to toys he wants, he’ll roll until he’s maneuvered his way to that spot.  I call him my little roly poly.  I’m assuming crawling will be a while.  I’m okay with that.
IMG_9511
I ignored the baby help books and rock him to sleep if he wakes up.  It was just easier and quicker.  And let me tell you, it was (he doesn’t really wake up anymore) one of the sweetest moments I’ll remember.
IMG_9529
Post bath snuggles are the best from this guy.

Our Dallas Cowboys had a great season.  It’d been a LONG time since the Cowboys were in the playoffs (and had a really good shot), but sadly the stupid football rules Green Bay took it from us!  We were still mourning the morning after the loss.  If you didn’t see the game, there was a really controversial call that pretty much decided the game.  I still would argue it was a bad call, even after all the “proof.”  I could go on and on about the call, but I’m too tired.
IMG_9543Yummy…
IMG_9541
Oh wait, I’m not sure about that.
IMG_9580
The weather has been great the last few days, so we have been going on lots of walks.

I got out of the shower and saw this card on my dresser.  He does sweet things like this to keep me perked up throughout the season.  I love the Bible verse at the bottom (left) of this card.
IMG_9600
After church shenanigans!  He has to do this every Sunday.
IMG_9620
Something that has calmed Maddox when we’re driving if he gets fussy is to say his name and let him know I’m still there.  He’ll look back at me and I think it’s adorable.  I love being needed to calm him down.
IMG_9619
This is the nice stage where they can’t move around much, but will play with such a simple toy.  Doesn’t last long, so I’m savoring it.
IMG_9608
My mom and dad came over last Sunday to fix my computer.  We all just hung out, drank coffee (we’re night coffee drinkers) and prayed my computer would work again.  My dad came to my rescue and got it working!  My parents are so selfless!
IMG_9647
Yesterday we went and ate lunch with Ryan during his lunch break.  My guys!
IMG_9635
I also did a lot of purging and organizing yesterday.  Is that not so beautiful and neat?!  I showed Ryan in excitement last night and he definitely didn’t share my enthusiasm!  But, I cannot tell you how happy a decluttered, organized space makes me feel.  I did my entire side of the bathroom.  I’ll share the final look after I buy some apothecary jars.
IMG_9645
I thought this was funny!  Maddox woke up and was fussing, so I sent Beckham in there to distract him while I finished making dinner.  I look on the monitor and see this.  B crawled in the crib with him.  If you look closely, Maddox is loving it!  Sorry about the Spiderman underwear.
IMG_9648
He wanted to help.  If he gets good at this, I totally might make it a way for him to earn some money.
Well, that’s what we’ve been up to this month.  I thought his month was going by slow until I looked at the calendar and saw it was the 22nd (I thought it was the 16th or something).  Maddox will be 7 months in a few days and we only have about a month and a half of basketball season left.  Woohoo!  Have a great weekend!

Aww hang in there mama. I totally resonate with a lot of this post. Bath time is a gift from god on long days. HAHAHAHA And the no napping…oh my gosh. this time last year when my oldest (now 4yr) stopped napping I seriously almost lost my mind.
