I’m 21 weeks today and am loving it all! Since we’ve found out it’s a boy it just seems so real to me…and because of the fact that he moves A LOT now and his kicks are harder! Sometimes they even startle me! Every time I’m at my house and I feel him moving, I look down at my stomach and just watch him poke at me! It is by far the coolest thing in pregnancy! It’s currently my favorite movie! Ryan has not been able to feel him yet, but has also been gone since he really started kicking harder and more often. I can’t wait for him to get back and feel Baby Snydes! Ryan’s at camp so I haven’t even been able to talk to him about it! He’s going to be pumped to feel his boy practicing his kicks and swings before birth 🙂 People always tell us he’s going to be this extremely athletic boy since Ryan and I both slept, ate, and breathed sports, but we always joke that he’ll probably take up dance and theater! I will however be teaching him to juggle and dribble as soon as he can walk – it will be part of our daily schedule! Haha!
No new symptoms recently. I have been thinking about going to Ryan’s chiropractor and getting adjusted (at least the 3 months before he’s due), so if you have any thoughts on that, please share. I’ve heard from some who have done pregnancies with and without adjustments that say the deliveries are much easier when they do get adjusted. It makes me weak at the knees to think about getting adjusted, but if it’s going to help, count me in! Plus my lower back is starting to mildly (and I mean mildly) ache a little at times. I can see how adjustments makes sense, but if you guys have any experience, let me know. Here I am at 21 weeks: I finally feel like I’m starting to pop (seen more so in clothes).
This was a fun week for me because I got to venture out into the baby stores and start scanning things for our registry. My aunt is throwing us a small family baby shower on Sunday before her son and wife (my cousin) head back to Germany where they live. And my summer Bible study group is throwing me a shower as well the following Wednesday since it will be my last time seeing them for the summer. So I needed to get a few things on there in case they wanted to pick from that. I was so blessed to have my cousin-in-law’s wife Amanda, who was visiting, take time out of her visit to help me register. We went to Buy Buy Baby. Oh my gosh, if she had not been there, I think I would have walked back out! She had a little girl last November (same month ours is due) so she was a perfect person to help me narrow down what I need. I’m sure I’ll figure out a lot on my own after the fact, but it was so good to get started with knowledge of a newborn! I then went with my mom yesterday through Target to add some things onto that registry! Going through all the things makes me just want to hold my baby RIGHT NOW! My friend Jennifer, also gave me insight and ideas when I met up with her for breakfast! She even burned me a Mercy Me lullaby cd (well her husband did…thanks Nick). It’s so good to hear from mom’s who have recently been through it! I appreciate all the ideas! I know I hear all the time, “every baby is different” but for now I am going to rely on experienced mothers for the start. I can’t know “how he is” until he’s born 🙂 You know I like to plan and research, and it has proven beneficial so far, so why stop now!
Here is the furniture we are going to get (minus the 6 drawer chest). If you read my last blog, you saw that the crib we were given was recalled. So I think we’re going to go ahead and just get the matching crib with this furniture set. It should be about $1,000 together! If you know of a better buy, I’m all ears!
So after looking at baby things, my questions to moms are:
1. Thoughts on brands for diapers – I’ve heard some good brands are Luvs, Huggies, and Pampers. I’ve heard Pampers are great, but pricey; lots of boy moms like Huggies; and tons of people who use Luvs (a little better priced). I’m not too picky on diapers as long as it doesn’t make my son get a rash and leak out all the time. Thoughts?
2. Any preference on wipes?
3. Which of these furnitures are necessary and/or useless or can be combined?
-strollers (umbrella, snap and go, and jogging)
-bouncer (the kind they lay down in and it moves up and down if you press on it – don’t know the name) AND swing – the reason I ask is because I saw an ad for a swing/lay down chair (bouncer thingy), but wasn’t sure if it was worth it to get. It locked if you wanted it just for them to sit in, but unlocked if you wanted to swing in it. Just trying to maximize space considering the 20 million things we need! 🙂

1. Pampers was by far my favorite diapers. For swim diapers and pull-ups, I like Huggies.
2. Huggies are also my favorite wipes, but I only use those when we are out and about. I make wipes and it so easy and much cheaper! I also made baby food (also way cheaper).
3. I never used an umbrella stroller. I had the travel system and it worked great until #2 was born. Jogging stroller is great if you are outside a lot.
I had the bouncer and it was great when they were little. Can travel to different rooms so you can clean, shower, etc. Have you found Once Upon A Child?

1. I LOVED Pampers! I love the texture and durability of the diaper. However, my friend (who also has a boy) swears on Huggies. I'm not sure what other brand does this, but when they are babies, in Stage 1, the Pampers diaper has a little line in the front that turns green when they've gone pee. That way you know if they are wet or not! It's really helpful for a new mom and not really knowing the feel of a wet diaper! Yes, they are a little pricey but worth every penny! I've tried Target/Walmart brand diapers but for how active mine is, the diaper falls off. I found the adhesive wasn't as strong as Pampers. You get what you what you pay for.
2. When Peyton was little, and more sensitive, I used Pampers or Huggies wipes. I liked them both. Now that he's older he gets Target brand! They work! Don't get a wipe warmer! I registerd for one, got it, and it dried all my wipes out! It was more like using paper towels than wipes 🙁 That device didn't last long!
3. To this day have never had an umbrella stroller, but sometimes wish I invested in. They're alot less lighter and easier than hauling around the travel system stroller…which is what we use right now. I do like that when we go to the mall with the big stroller, we can store all of our purses, shopping and diaper bags! Very handy around Christmas time 😉 Peyton slept in the swing and his carseat for the first 4 months of his life. There's something about the curvature of the base that made him sleep. It was like he was being held rather than sleeping flat. I definitely suggest getting a lay down bouncer. It's the only way I could get a shower when I was the only one at home! Another toy that was a must have for us, was a jumper. They have some that are free standing and ones that hang on the door. I didn't feel safe with one that hung on the door so we got a free standing one. They're $100, and I wasnt going to pay that. I went to Kid to Kid in Lewisville (also location in Plano) and found one for $35 in perfect condition! It was a jungle one by Fisher Price. You sit them in this round seat and they can jump all day long. Great for those soccer muscles 😉
