So I’ve just got home from the grocery store with both boys and it was a disaster. Mid-way through, Maddox (the almost 2 yr. old) threw a fit and wanted out of his cart. The sucker and coloring didn’t hold his attention any longer. Meanwhile, Beckham (the 4.5 yr. old) was walking next to us on my phone watching videos (this was after he crawled through the mazes of paper towels and I threatened his life to come out). I managed to pick up the remainder of my items as a frazzled mom carrying a ginormous toddler on one hip and my purse on the same shoulder, while pushing a cart that veered to the right (why don’t any carts drive straight anymore). Clearly, not my best parenting day (I should have planned better when I would be going). Whatever, I’m tired.
I like to keep it real on this blog, so hopefully you feel better about your grocery trip after picturing my fiasco. I decided to come home and write my June Goals post while the little one naps and Beckham has quiet/TV time. I’m tired and don’t feel like cleaning right now…which is probably the responsible thing to do during this time. Instead, I made myself a cup of coffee with butter pecan creamer and sat down to write.
First of all, here are my goals from May…
Blogging:
-Set up Pages to have categorized posts for easy access
-Add popular posts to my sidebar
-Post Ideas I’d like to Publish: Office Makeover Reveal; Before & After Pantry Organization; X-number of Benefits of Having a Smaller Home; a new Beans Recipe (this is my brother-in-law’s so if he lets me post it, I will…so good).
Extra Bonus Posts (if I get to these, I’m way ahead): How we paid off our house in 33 months (a very detailed post about it, budget and all); Routines (morning, night, cleaning).
Personal:
–Plan Maddox’s 2nd birthday (and send out invites)
-Complete my Feminine Office Makeover
-Complete my Pantry Makeover
-Start and implement a chore chart for Beckham
-Finish reading Stop Acting Rich
-Focus on routines – I know this is vague, but I’m a believer that habits formed really can make an impact on your productivity. I’d love to figure out what routines work best. I have a written plan for each (morning, night, cleaning).
–Pick out a great teacher gift for the boys’ teachers
–I also need to get gifts for Ryan, my brother, and my mom.
-Start getting estimates for a fence replacement
-Set up dentist appointments – my teeth hurt. It’s time
-Find a place for swim lessons (for Beckham)
-Find and eat all the salads I can this month – I’m not a salad person, but if I’m not eating a salad, I’m eating a burger and fries…so I pretty much need to figure out what meals I can eat that include more veggies and less calories, without feeling like a rabbit while eating them.
–Keep working out at the gym – I really do best in the gym, so as long as I can get there, I’ll feel great!
Joyful Art Designs:
-Add 10 signs this month – I’m being ambitious, but this just has to happen. May is usually a good month for me so I’m sure I’ll be pretty busy with orders. This boosts up listing views in Etsy, so this will be a good time to add more items.
Clearly, not the best month, but I will say I killed it at the gym and making that a consistent thing. A lot of these goals will carry over into June, in addition to some new ones.
June starts the beginning of summer for our family…Ryan’s last day of school is Friday. He will do summer school for the first session so he’ll be gone half the day, but he will be off from lunch time on. He also has some basketball stuff going on, but nothing too intense and we’re really excited to spend some much needed time with him.
The big thing this month will be Maddox’s birthday and we can’t wait! Here are my goals/to-do’s for this month.
I plan on tackling a lot of house projects this month, as well as just a couple of blog and design goals for June. We are also looking forward to spending our mornings at the gym working out, swimming, and munching food! I also start my summer Bible study this month which I’m really excited about. The things I’d need/want to get done this month are…
Personal:
-Plan and throw Maddox’s party (Fiesta theme)
-Work on Morning, Nightly, and Cleaning routines
-Finish bookcase in office
-Paint file cabinet (white)
-Paint fire place mantle
-Chore chart for Beckham
-Dentist appointments for B and I
-Set up installation for new fence
-Search around for new flooring (possibly install if it’s in our budget)
-Paint kitchen cabinets white (we’re hiring out but I need to set a date)
-Cross some things off our Summer Activities List (I guess I should share that in a post)
-Clean out master closet (bleh)
Blogging:
-Complete Unit 4 and 5 of my blogging course (EBA). I was held up in Unit 3 with structuring my site and posts. I still have lots of work to do with old posts, but I feel I can move on and fix them as needed.
-Grow page views by 10,000. I don’t stress too much about page views, but it’s good to have a number in mind.
Joyful Art Designs:
-Add all designs to my shop that are complete, but sitting in files on my computer.
-Make free printables for blog readers (at least once a month).
Well, I better get started on all these goals. I’ll make sure to take pictures of all the before and afters of any house projects.

I like your monthly goals. Nothing makes me start out a month with better intentions than goals. Thank you for sharing and have a better day today. That shopping trip could have easily have happened to me! 🙂

Hi Olivia! I saw your comment about Rick’s Chophouse on Erika’s blog and new if you loved Rick’s you must have great taste, so I needed to check out your blog! I am curious about the blogging course you mentioned. I have been blogging for about six months and need Blogging 101 desperately. Where can I find info on that? Have a great day!

Hi Emily! Thanks for commenting! I have a post in the works about the switch I made and the course I’m taking. It’s called Elite Blog Academy by Ruth Soukup. It’s been pretty great so far and I think I haven’t gotten to the meat of it yet. She only opens the doors once a year for the course, but I think she has something going on right now that’s a mini version. The full version is pretty pricey, but the mini may be something good to start out with. Hope that helps a bit 🙂

Love your story about the grocery store. I have a six week old baby and going in public is an overwhelming challenge lol! I gave myself a break on goals for May but this reminded me I would like to set some and write them out for June!
