I have to say that this first week of 2015 has been great and lots of things have been happening. My favorites today..
{ONE}: CHILI AND COWBOYS
My beloved Dallas Cowboys have done great this season and are in the playoffs. I’m not going to say much as I don’t want to jinx anything. Last Sunday we had my brother and sister-in-law over for the game. I cooked chili and it’s my favorite recipe of chili. I’ve never been a huge chili maker, so this is saying something. The recipe I use is HERE. I’ll have to post the recipe on my blog as I’ve tweaked a couple things, but it’s delicious!!! I made some cornbread and had cheese, green onions, sour cream, and Fritos to top it with. Perfect recipe during winter.
{TWO}: MY 3 YEAR OLD IS POTTY TRAINED!!!
Y’all, I’m overly excited that this has happened. He turned 3 in November, and I thought it would never happen. He has been capable for quite a while now. It was just a matter of him wanting to go or not. He SLOWLY has voluntarily been going on the potty lately. Well, last week when we were stuck at home for a couple of weeks due to our sicknesses, I just kept him in underwear one day (even when we ran an errand). Surprisingly, he kept going. Lots of taking him to the restroom, but now he tells me when he needs to go. Of course, we’ve had accidents, but he’s gone to school in underwear and everywhere else we go (he hasn’t had an accident at school). Unfortunately, he won’t poop on the toilet. He waits for his diapers at night. He thinks it will “hurt.” Hmmm??? I’m not going to push it though. Here he is celebrating with ice cream after school.
{THREE}: BECKHAM HAS MATURED A LOT
As you may know, this last 6 months was tough with Beckham and his strong will while caring for a needy, colicky infant. I thought it was the transition into the dreaded three’s everyone warned me about, but I actually think 3’s have been way better for him. He’s just matured a lot. He talks A LOT and I’m absolutely amazed at the things he talks about and remembers. I even found him picking up some toys in his playroom that he had been playing with (I previously told him we couldn’t get the room messy since we had friends coming over today and I had just cleaned it). This is big, considering his favorite activity is to dump toys everywhere. Literally, his favorite activity. And he helps a TON with Maddox. Entertains him, brings me things I need, gives Maddox toys, makes him laugh if he’s upset, etc. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a “threenager” at times, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I love that he’s growing up. The pictures below are of all the toys he set Maddox up with, him out of the cart in a store and not running away, and him riding his tricycle ahead of me while I push the stroller (with a stick in his mouth)
{FOUR}: MADDOX SNUGGLES ME
I posted this on my IG last night, but this is probably my favorite part of my day. When Maddox gets out of the bath, he immediately lays his head on my shoulder and then he listens to me sing “You Are My Sunshine” over and over again. He just lays there! Listening. Staring. Relaxed. Calm. Loving on me. It is simply the best.
{FIVE}: STARBUCKS CARAMEL BRULEE LATTE
I’ve been using my Starbucks gift cards and I’m loving the Caramel Brulee latte. It’s my favorite drink right now and I’m drinking it as much as I can while it’s still here (I think it’s a holiday drink?) Oh and this is my favorite nail polish.
{SIX}: BIRCHBOX
My mother-in-law got my Birchbox for Christmas. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a company that sends sample sized beauty products each month for $10. Both boys were napping in the car after getting a coffee, so I grabbed the mail out front and sat in the garage for some peace and quiet and looked through my first box. I’m super excited to get it each month.
{SEVEN}: PLUM PAPER DESIGNS PLANNER
My mom got me a new planner this year for Christmas. I decided to go with Plum Paper Designs and I’m loving it. I’ve had simple store bought planners, an Erin Condren planner, and I ordered Emily Ley, but returned it after my mom said she would buy me one (plus there were some things that were not going to work for me with the EL one). I’ll go into more detail later this month when I show you how I keep organized (or try to), but this planner is very similar to EC, but it has a bit more options (I added extra notes pages and a cleaning page to each month). They also have 4 different weekly spreads to choose from. They were great to work with and I always love buying from other Etsy sellers. And the best part…a lot cheaper…almost $20-$27 cheaper. I’m very pleased with it.
A few random favorite pictures this week…
I’m glad it’s Friday and the weekend is here…although it’s not much different for me as a SAHM (whose hubby refs far away). Cowboys play Sunday and I can’t wait. It’s going to be tough to win, but I have faith! Have a great weekend.
I’m linking up with Erika, Andrea and Narci for Friday Favorites. My favorites are really random today!

You will love the Birchbox. I did it for about a year and 1/2. It is so exciting to get it in the mail each month and you get some neat things you wouldn't buy otherwise. I am on a break from it for now, but plan to resubscribe someday. Have a great weekend.

Oh good I'm excited! I'm bad about buying beauty products on a whim and then not liking them, so this is perfect.

My daughter had the same issue with going number 2 in the potty, she preferred her diapers and did her business in them for a god 4 or 5 months after she was potty trained, but one day she just decided to go in the potty and has been fine ever since!

Yep, I feel like that's how he will be. Hopefully it's soon though 🙂

First that chili looks awesome! Second the caramel brulee is my favorite too, and I'm going to be sad when it goes. And third, how sweet are those after bath cuddles?!
I'm hosting The Pick, a year-long link-up every Friday for sharing your favorite post from the week, and would love to have you join! It's a great way to meet new bloggers and build or add to your blogging community!

Oh, the ever loving potty training…so glad I am over that part, haha! Your kiddos are absolutely precious, enjoy those years! My youngest is almost 9, and oldest is 13, it goes so fast! I just got an EC planner for Christmas and LOOOVE it!
joyfullyprudent says
Thanks Cara! You will LOVE the EC planner. Plus, she has changing covers this year…how cool!

So what's the name of the nail polish in the Starbuck's pic?!
joyfullyprudent says
That would have been helpful 🙂 It's Sinful Colors "Folly" I buy mine at Walmart for, I think, $1.99. They actually last pretty well on my nails. I use 2 coats and sometimes a clear coat on bottom.
joyfullyprudent says
I will have to check out that top coat polish! Sally Hansen also has this gel polish I've been wanting to try. Thanks so much for reading!
Tina says
Please post the chili recipe! I have one that I like but am always looking to tweak. Also, what color is your nail polish? Beautiful! Stopping by from Momfessionals!
joyfullyprudent says
Will do Tina. When I make it again, I'll take some pictures to post on the blog. Should be soon because I'm craving it again! The color is Sinful Colors "Folly"…I get it at Walmart.
