Hope y’all had a happy 4th of July…yes I know a week later…that’s how we roll around here on this blog! We swam at my parents house and had dinner also! We then watched fireworks at Kaboomtown in Addison from the Target parking lot. We escaped hours of traffic by watching from there. Beckham liked the fireworks and was intrigued for about 5 minutes. Then he just wanted to sit in the front seat and play with the steering wheel. Go figure. I managed to get ZERO pictures, but Ryan did snap some shots during the firework show.
Then we went to a Rough Riders game on Saturday with fireworks after the game and he was MUCH more intrigued because they were extremely close and LOUD. He was quite scared, but a little reassuring and he was fine. He signed “more” when they were done.
This one represents summer for us! Backyard, pool, watermelon!
Anyway, here are some of my favorites lately:
STOVE-POPPED POPCORN:
I have used microwave popcorn for years, until I read that it was really bad for you. We love popcorn around here, so I decided to start making it myself from the kernels and oil. I used coconut oil. 3 Tbsp. of this and 1/2 cup of kernels. Heat on medium heat until it’s done. I sprayed some butter and sprinkled some salt on top. It was delicious. It takes longer to make and more to clean up, but I feel better about ingesting it…and it actually tasted better.
TURKEY CHILI:
Ryan and I are going to Destin in a couple of weeks and we’ve been trying to get “swimsuit ready” so we’re eating healthier lately. This soup is awesome!!! I found the recipe HERE. I used collard greens instead of kale since I had a lifetime supply of them. So good.
THIS COBALT BLUE DRESS FROM KOHLS:
The color of this dress is amazing. I love cobalt blue! I wore this to church. Found it at Kohl’s in the Juniors department. It was like $26! I had a 30% off coupon so it ended up being less than $20. Definitely a good buy! Excuse the mess in the background. This picture doesn’t do the color justice.
CHICK-FIL-A ASIAN CHICKEN SALAD:
I’m obsessed! Literally I could eat this every single day for lunch! Ryan got this salad for free one day and brought it home to eat. I tried it and immediately went out the next day and bought one. It’s a whopping $7.00 salad which is ridiculous, but I would sacrifice elsewhere to eat it! I can’t remember exactly the numbers, but it was around 330-380 calories for the salad. The dressing (Honey Sesame) is 170 calories and the wontons are 70 calories…both a must on this salad. About 560-610 for this meal. And you can definitely split it into two portions. It was huge! Don’t worry, I ate it all…by myself!
My all-time favorite drink from Starbies is the salted caramel mocha (nf milk, no whip), but it’s only seasonal with the salt. Stupid! Because it totally changes the taste. So I opt for the regular caramel mocha and wait in anticipation for the drink to come out in the fall! It’s hard to drink this during the Texas summer, but in the a.m. A/C car was fine. I can’t wait till fall!
THIS LIL’ DUDE’S COMB-OVER:
I have been patiently waiting for some hair to grow in and we’ve finally got enough to comb through. So mama tried out a “style” on him. He loved watching me comb his hair. I wet a comb and starting styling it when I had a vivid memory of my mom doing the exact same thing to us when we were little. She would wet a comb, style our hair, and hair spray it. It made me smile! I actually prefer styling a boy’s hair to a girl’s. Can’t wait for some spikey hair soon!
JOYFUL ART DESIGNS BIRTH STATS:
I love birth stats for nurseries and baby showers and finally added one to my shop. These are what started my love for designing! I’ve created a ton of different versions, but this one is my favorite! Customized for a precious little one!
Hope you have a great Friday! We’re off to swim!
