Despite a super crazy eye (red, dry skin, swollen, and tender all around my eye), this week has been a good one and this weekend is starting off well too! I have my first MOPS meeting of the Fall today, dinner with some girls tonight, and friends tomorrow while Ryan is working. And my eye is finally getting better. I couldn’t wear makeup all week and permanently had Neosporin applied to it. It was attractive (do you hear my sarcasm?). So, let’s get to some favorites from this week!
The temperatures are cooling off slightly here in Texas (by slightly, I mean it’s now in the 90’s vs. 100’s). So, the boys are enjoying their favorite activity…playing in the dirt! I schedule this so that they’re outside after dinner (when it’s coolest) and can take a bath right after.
On Monday, we went to On the Border and started off with chips and queso and shared a margarita. We had a coupon for a free queso (there is a free one on your receipt every time you go) and the margarita was half off on Labor Day. These are some of the ways we indulge without spending a lot of money. Queso, margarita, and patio sittin’ is definitely a favorite of mine!
These boys started back at preschool this week! Beckham is entering Pre-K, which means his last year at home with me 🙁 While I’m definitely sad about that, B is one of those kiddos that does extremely well in a structured, very busy, environment…with lots of people! Maddox is in the 2 year old room and did extremely well! He went right in, no crying (very different than last year).
After drop off on the first day, some of my friends and I met at a local coffee shop in downtown McKinney (my favorite coffee shop ever)! It was so good for the soul. We’ve declared it a once a month necessity. This is such a luxury and I feel spoiled to be able to do this. Don’t mind my one eyed make up look. 🙂
I made this delicious Apple Butterscotch Cake with Cinnamon Vanilla icing. It is so good!
And to combat that cake, I’m at my happy place…the gym! This is one of my favorite tops and bottoms. Top was from Walmart and the capris are from Target. The top is loose fitting, especially in the stomach area (Amen!). The bottoms are the best! They were on sale and there was only one of them at Target, but I would buy more if I could. They’re high wasted (good for tucking in all that mommy love while working out) and very slimming.
Lastly, this carpet odor eliminator is awesome! You just sprinkle it all over the carpet and let it sit a few minutes. Then vacuum it up! I do this about once a week.
Hope you guys have a great Friday. I plan on being back on Monday for another Ask Me Monday post.
I’m linking up today for Friday Favorites.

Looks like a great week! Will you please share your cake recipe? It sounds delicious!

Blake, it’s actually adapted from here . Here’s how I changed it up a bit:
-I only use ONE pudding mix
-NO pecans in or on mine
-For icing, I used store bought vanilla, heated it in the microwave to make it thinner, and stirred in some cinnamon (didn’t measure). Then I drizzled that over it with a spoon when the cake was warm.

Just a comment about the carpet powder 🙂 my mom used a product like this for years and when they finally changed to wood floors, there was Leftover powder under their carpeting when they ripped it out. Even after vacuuming, it might leave some behind. I also think about myself having allergies as a kid and your boys playing on the floor and breathing it in. Hope My post didn’t sound offensive, just a friendly warning. Have a great week!

Oh no…thank you for telling me. That’s crazy…we plan on ripping this carpet up to do wood floors, so I will have to see what it’s like then, although I just started using it! When I pulled up our carpets in my office (hadn’t used powder in there) there was SO much stuff under carpets…it was so gross. Carpeting is disgusting!

Yea for queso with a coupon! Sorry to hear about your eye irritation, but glad it was still a good week. That cake looks delicious. And you know you’re from Texas when highs in the 80s sound “cool.” Have a great weekend!
