I haven’t done a Friday Favorites this month so I have quite the list for you today! Ryan went back to work this week so we’re adjusting back into a routine. This is a little bit of a Favorites post mixed in with some Life Lately!
I have to share with you two of my favorite breakfast places around here (McKinney) if you are local. These donuts are from a place called Max’s Donut Shop. It’s in Allen and they are incredible. The line is usually out the door. I like the chocolate glaze on glaze donut. And they’re warm. And huge. And cheap. I can only eat one and that’s saying a lot for a donut. The “pigs in a blanket” are so good too.
And these pancakes are ridiculous! The best pancakes I’ve had. They’re at a local spot in McKinney called Bill Smith’s. It’s a McKinney favorite. They melt in your mouth. I have no idea how they get them this consistency. Oh my gosh, I want to go get pancakes now.
One of my favorite things this week has been the weather. It’s been in the high 70’s and 80’s…in August! That’s unheard of this time of year. It’s all been overcast or raining, but I’ll take it! It prompted me to make this chili. By far my favorite chili recipe ever!
A couple weekends ago, I went to my mom’s house to help her organize her pantry. Organizing is my favorite. And spending time with my mom. This was the Before and After.
We have been watching a lot of Olympics lately (Beckham is really into it this year which is cool-4yrs old) and I taught Maddox how to stand when the National Anthem is being played. This is definitely one of my favorite pictures of him. How sweet! #gousa
If you follow me on Instagram, you saw this picture, but it’s my new little corner in the kitchen! I’ve been wanting to do under cabinet lighting, but keep finding that it’s a bit more extensive and/or expensive than I’m willing to put forth right now, so I went with this light from Hobby Lobby that gives great lighting in the kitchen. The sign and plant are also from Hobby Lobby. We love the movie Field of Dreams, so this sign is perfect! I’m no professional chef, but I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if you don’t like my food when you come over. Good food is a necessity for my fam and guests.
This is silly, but this is my (as well as every other girl’s) favorite filter on Snap Chat. Tan skin, white teeth, and a sparkle in my eye? Yes, please. Butterflies swarming around my head is a bonus. 🙂 If you are a snapchatter, I’m oliviacsnyder over there.
Ryan and I celebrated 9 years of marriage on August 10th. We celebrated by doing one of our favorite things…dinner and a movie.
We went to a Brazilian Steakhouse and this is my absolute favorite soda ever! Guarana! I get it every time. And I’m obsessed with the cheese balls, as I call them. They’re cheesy rolls…Ryan doesn’t like stuff like that, so I get the whole thing…and yes, I eat them all! We also saw the Jason Bourne movie…it was really good.
Last week, Ryan spent a lot of time with the boys since it was his last week at home before school started back for him. This also gave me some time alone at the house to do what I needed or run errands. Bless him. He took them to Playstreet on Thursday and they had a blast.
On Friday, we took the boys to Bill Smith’s (pancakes above) and then to the toy store to pick out some toys with money from their Great Grandma! Thank you Marie! They had a blast in the toy store and Beckham picked out at least 100 other items to buy. Sorry bud. #budgeting You would think he has no toys at home.
He now wants a car for Christmas! Santa, can you make that happen?!
We painted our master bedroom this week. I posted this picture on Facebook and Instagram asking for thoughts on the two colors. Majority said the left color, so we went with that! I absolutely love it. It turned out a lot grayer than I thought (doesn’t look as gray to me in this picture), but it has grown on me even more since doing it. I just have to paint the trim white and then we will see how it all comes together. Here is our master before. So glad the brown walls are gone. #whatwasithinking
We celebrated my dad’s birthday over at my house with all our family! The guacamole I make is always a hit! I also love making the easiest dessert ever because it tastes so good! We also had burgers, chips, watermelon (in a watermelon carved basket), corn casserole, Asian chopped salad, and baked beans (and mac n cheese for the kiddos)!
I also made this sign for my dad! I’ve been meaning to make these signs to add to my shop. I’ll be adding this soon, but everyone thought it was interesting to read.
One of my favorite things to do for myself is go to the gym. I hate working out any other way (except playing soccer) and lately when I’ve come to pick them up, I find them having so much fun, not even wanting to leave. Makes my mama heart happy…and kind of sad they don’t cry when they see me like they did as babies, but oh well, I get workout 🙂
I am obsessed with my new coffee mug I found at Home Goods. It’s by Ten Strawberry Street Mugs. 5 bucks and so pretty.
And lastly, this may not be new, but it is to me. I decided to add White Chocolate Peanut Butter (Peanut Butter and Co brand) to my hot waffle with a drizzle of syrup on top as well and oh my goodness! It’s totally not that healthy for you, but definitely worth the try! A new favorite.
Whew, that was a lot. At least I feel caught up. I’m painting trim today and trying to put my bedroom back in order, so that should be fun.
I know a lot of schools start back on Monday. If you’re a last minute person like I am and need a Back to School sign before the big day, check out my Etsy shop for some printables you can use (custom and generic). Have a great weekend!
I’m linking up today for Friday Favorites.

We went to visit my cousin this summer in Texas and we drove right through McKinney. She lives outside of Ravenna, but since there is nothing there she does all her shopping in McKinney. I didn’t realize that is the part of TX where you are. Fun connection. Wish I’d known about these places before we went. 🙂

Yum – breakfast food is the best!! I just picked up a whole grains baking cookbook to give me some new ideas.
No school here (upstate NY) until 9/7!
