Today’s topic for Day 18 is “a detailed story from our childhood.” I really didn’t put much thought into this post, but rather, I’m writing about something random from my childhood that I remember.
My friend Whitney and I used to sell lemonade in the summer. I was probably about 8 years old. We lived on the golf course so we would set up a table at one of the tees by the street. We would get business from golfers and people driving by. I remember making the signs, dragging everything we needed to our spot and setting it all up by ourselves. I’m sure my parents helped, but we sat out there alone and sold lemonade for a quarter. Man how times have changed.
Well one day a golfer and his buddies stopped by our table and bought a cup of lemonade. He gave us a $20 bill and told us to keep it. One of his buddies asked us if we knew who Charley Pride was. We totally didn’t. He then said, “Well, tell your parents you just sold lemonade to Charley Pride.” Charley talked to us a little and then they went on their way. He was really nice…I mean c’mon, he gave us $20 for a $0.25 cup of lemonade.
We went home and told our parents and they thought is was pretty cool. They also explained to us who Charley Pride was…a country singer! Not sure why I chose that story to share, but I can always say “I sold a $20 cup of lemonade to Charley Pride.”
