Yesterday I had a pretty depressing dentist visit and then it was just one of those days where the kids were super hard and I also got sucked into the comparison game to finish the night off. So, sat I before bed and wrote out a list of things I’m going to do today that will make me happy and focus on the positives!
Drink a cup of coffee while the kids play – For some reason, this makes me feel so calm…watching them play, while I drink coffee in the morning.
Get rid of some stuff – This really makes me happy, so I am going to try and get rid of a few things today!
Finish a project – I feel like all my projects are 95% complete. There’s that last little thing that needs to be finished, so I’m going to focus on the office today and get it “blog show” ready 🙂
Not check social media – This causes me to compare, and I just don’t need it today. I like to set a certain time during the day to check it, instead of randomly getting on it and getting sucked into the craziness.
Celebrate the fact that I installed our hardware by myself – Our cabinets are so pretty now. Ryan did have to help me with a few cabinets that needed extra muscle with the power drill.
Make dinner plans…that don’t involve me cooking. I don’t know what those will be yet, but it’s just me and the boys tonight.
Workout – Haven’t decided if this will be a jog to the park with the boys or a quick visit to the gym. I’m thinking the first one.
Make October goals – Planning my goals is fun for me, so I will do that today and share them on the blog next week.
Paint my nails – One of the top 3 things that makes me happy.
Clean my bathrooms – They need a deep clean this week and I’ve completely ignored them.
Enjoy the weather – Whether this is a lunch break at the park and/or playing in the back, we WILL be outside today. The weather is incredible!
These things make me happy and are sure to create a better day. Hope your Friday is happy as well! Ryan is home all weekend so I’m pretty pumped!
I’m linking up today for Friday Favorites since these are some of my favorite ways to create happy!

Great post. I hope you have a happy day! 🙂 I struggle with comparison too and have also been stressed with all the drama in the news lately. I decided to “swap”- so instead of comparing on social media, I will write down things I’m grateful for. Instead of reading articles about politics or racial tensions, I will start memorizing positive scripture (never memorized before!). Just started yesterday and the scripture has already made SUCH a difference! I’m writing all this to say I’m right there with you in the struggle!

That’s such a great idea Laura! Yes, the news is definitely depressing lately.

Your hardware installation should create a month of happy! I’m still super impressed! I feel the same way about coffee and watching the kids play.

I know right! That definitely makes me happy and it looks pretty 🙂

Love this! I would add to the list, taking a hot shower and getting dressed and ready so I feel like a human. Lol! Instead of sitting here unshowered in sweats like I currently am.
This is a great post. It really is the little things that can brighten our day.
I hope your dental situation is ok. I’ve had to spend thousands of dollars on dental issues, so I know how incredibly frustrating it can be.

Yes, thousands of dollars needs to be done and it’s depressing. Literally I was so bummed all day knowing how much it would all cost even if I spread it all out. Ugh. My teeth have always sucked and I’m pretty sure I don’t have one natural tooth anymore 🙁

I’m sorry that you had a tough day, but good for you for turning it around! You should be SUPER proud of yourself for that hardware installation! That’s not an easy or fun job but it looks great!
