I feel like a horrible blogger this summer, but ironically, when Ryan is home for summers, I feel busier. I’m trying to soak up all the family time I can get while he’s off and not in the middle of basketball season. I’m also working hard on my business, which has taken more of my “blogging time.”
This summer has been very relaxing! We have lucked out with the weather as it only started reaching the 100’s a couple of weeks ago. It’s pretty brutal now, but an air conditioned house makes it better. Did you know when we were paying off our mortgage (and had no kids), we would sometimes keep our house on 85 when we were gone and 79-82 when we were home and 78 when guests came over? I do not recommend that…I was not a pleasant woman in the summers. We installed barriers (or something like that) in our attic and it’s greatly reduced our bill, allowing us to keep it at 78. We close our drapes in the living room too and that helps. I’m not really sure how I got off on that topic, but anyway, back to our summer.
Beckham had his first overnighter somewhere besides our house. My parents graciously “invited” him over to spend the night with them so Ryan and I could experience a kid free 24 hours! I’m not gonna lie, I was nervous to “let him go” but it ended up being great, for both parties! I had a soccer game that night, so my parents came to my game, we all went out to eat afterwards, and then they took him home with them while Ryan and I went to a late movie!
See? No car seat in the back seat. This actually made me really sad and my heart felt empty! You know that feeling you get when you’re homesick or you really miss someone? That’s how I felt…it had been 10 minutes. Wow!
Late night movie at the dollar theater. It happened to be $0.50 Tuesday so our entire cost was $1.00. Haha. We saw Oblivion, with Tom Cruise. I liked it, but need to see it again to really understand it. Don’t worry, went to an $18/ticket movie the next day.
The next morning, we got to SLEEP IN and not worry about little man. My dad texted me everything they had done so far. It was very good to see a text…I didn’t want to ask them, but was really wanting to know. My dad knows me well. Then we headed off to a late breakfast and another movie. We even took the Vette. After Ryan spot cleaned it of course.
THE best breakfast/lunch café in McKinney, Texas. Bill Smith’s Café. I have heard about this from a lot of people, so we finally tried it.
Y’all those pancakes on the left, that are the size of my face, were the best pancakes I’ve ever had. They just dissolved in my mouth. Yes, those THREE plates are all mine – pancakes, ham, eggs, and hash browns. Restaurant coffee is the best coffee to me!
Then we headed here…
This is one of those dinner and movie theaters…on steroids. We saw White House Down. Free popcorn (of course you pay for it in the ticket). These tickets were $18 each. What?! Lucky for us, we had a gift card! So $0 for us. And they didn’t charge us for the drink. We asked them afterwards and they were like, “don’t worry about it…you want a refill?” Awesome!
And then we headed back to get our little man. He was taking his nap, but I had to go to Denton for a Bible study and to see my grandmother who was in the hospital. So I didn’t get to see him till late that night when he was already asleep! I was dying!
Other than that we have been relaxing and trying to get outside in the water. Randomness from our summer below:
