Here’s my “5 on Friday” as I link up with DARCI, CHRISTINA, LIZ, and NATASHA to showcase five things I’m really diggin’!
{ONE} MY DOWNTOWN:
I absolutely love our city’s downtown. We were voted the #2 best city to live in U.S. last year and this is one of the main reasons. I picked Beckham up from school on Thursday and decided to take him downtown and walk around a bit. The weather was perfect and they have a cute popcorn/candy shop with the best candied popcorn! Beckham was obsessed! Here we are just sitting on a bench eating popcorn! Just soaking up this mom and son moment! We also sampled Texas-made jams and salsa. I don’t know why I don’t go down here more often!
{TWO} PROVERBS 31 STUDY:
I have posted a few Instagram shots of this study I’m currently doing. Many have asked where to get this, so I thought I would share here as well. It’s a study on the Proverbs 31 woman…the woman, we Christians, strive to be. It’s actually very interesting and clears up some misconceptions society has about this woman. I HIGHLY recommend it…and it’s FREE! Just a lot of printing if you want to have a paper copy. Click HERE to download the study.
{THREE} SALAD KITS:
This may seem silly, but I really LOVE these kits. I always buy tons of ingredients to make a salad and end up wasting them. I love getting one of these to eat with a meal. This “Endless Summer” salad is my favorite. Kroger is the place to get these…they’re usually the cheapest and have a large variety. They’re about $2.50-3.00/bag, depending on sales.
{FOUR} GRILLED TURKEY/CHEESE:
I was over at my parent’s house the other night after my soccer game (thanks dad for watching Beckham) and my dad cooked me some dinner before I had to leave. He made me a grilled cheese and soup…the perfect meal on a cold, rainy night. He added some turkey and sweet peppers to it. My dad always knows how to make bland dishes “sizzle” (no pun intended). He says it comes from his days of living off ketchup and onion sandwiches & bologna wrapped Twinkies (it was easy to carry to class he said…yuck). It’s all he could afford, but he stretched simple ingredients. I decided to make my own at home. This sandwich is the perfect lunch with chips or homemade chicken noodle soup. *Note – I would’ve added another slice of cheese 🙂
{FIVE} LEMON WATER:
I’ve been hearing how great it is for you to drink lemon water, and finally decided to drink it daily. I always order water with lemon at restaurants, so I’m not sure why I don’t do it home either. I squeeze half a lemon in my ICE water and drink it in the morning. I use the other half later in the day with another glass. It literally makes me feel cleaner internally. Read HERE about the benefits of LEMON WATER. And HERE for 9 beauty benefits of lemons. Plus, I love decorating my kitchen with a bowl full of lemons on the counter.
