Dear Beckham,
You are getting so big! To be honest though I think I have been overfeeding you??? You won’t really reject a meal either 🙂 You are getting a personality and I LOVE it. You are a happy baby, so much that I think you are starting to prefer to stay awake and play rather than sleep. I have lots of notes this month so here’s to it! One of my best friends, Kristen, had her baby (girl) and you have already swapped saliva (keep reading). Her name is Harper and she is absolutely precious! We went to visit her when she was 5 days old. Kristen and I cannot wait to hang out with you guys. You stared at her a lot when we were over there 😉 Back to the saliva swapping…we accidentally took one of her pacifiers home and you obviously sucked on it before we realized it was hers. On that note, I found a website that will personalize pacis, so you will have your personalized paci soon!
I started back to work a couple weeks ago so your nanny, Heather, has officially started watching you. I need to get a picture with you two. You seem to have good days with her, so I’m assuming you like her. You definitely sleep better with her. I’ll just blame it on the fact that you want to be with your mommy when I’m here 🙂
You drool a lot now and suck your hand like crazy. You might be starting to teethe a little. You also suck your thumb a lot…sometimes it even finds its way in there when you’re feeding. You also spit up more and I’m not sure why (something to ask the doc).
Talking – It’s so cute to hear you “talking” so much more! You love babbling and cooing! It’s funny when I put you in front of the mirror because you study yourself intently and bat your hand at the mirror. Sometimes you’ll even talk to yourself. Putting on my make up with you is great..you’ll sit in your Bumbo and stare at the mirror. There are these roses next to your seat that you reach for and grab…I joked that you were picking roses (for your mommy of course)!
Tummy Time – Oh tummy time! Sorry to say this, but you’re 4 months old and you’re not up to par on lifting your head when you’re flat on your tummy. I know you have a big head and it may be harder, but you’re a SNYDER and we’re very competitive. Let’s go son! No just kidding, you’re doing better, but it’s definitely taking you some time to get that head up and support yourself with your arms. Will mention it to doc, but I’m sure you’re ok.
Measurements: I couldn’t get a doctor’s appointment till next Wednesday so I’ll come back to this and update it with your measurements, although I think you’re around 16 pounds right now!
Update after doc appt: Weight – 16 pounds (75%); Length – 25 inches (50%); Head Circumfrence – 17.25 in. (90%)
My favorite thing: Laughing and talking! I will do anything to hear you laugh! Funny faces combined with funny noises seem to do the trick. I could be making this up, but I always make this noise with my throat which you think is funny. Well when I try and put you to sleep or you have just woken up, you look at me and make that noise…almost like you are trying to make me laugh (or get out of taking your nap). It’s so stinking funny!
Daily Activities: You wake up around 8:30am and then feed. You eat, play, sleep (and sometimes play after your nap if it’s not time to feed again). You love your Bumbo, but it looks like you might get to big for it fast! Yikes, I hope not since you have a couple months before you can sit up on your own. You don’t really like tummy time, but will give me about 3 minutes at a time. You don’t really like your swing anymore. Something new is your exersaucer! You love sitting in it, but we have to put a pillow down underneath since your feet don’t touch the ground yet. You LOVE standing. You prefer it to sitting. So we just chit chat while you stand on mine or your daddy’s legs. I love your wobbly knees!
Eating: You were eating 5-6 times, but I just recently cut you down to eating every 3.5-4 hours which means you eat 4, sometimes 5, times a day. Usually 8:30, 12:30, 4:30, and 8:30. You take about 6.5 oz per feeding. Maybe you’ll slim up now that you’re eating less.
Sleeping: You have extended your night sleep for another hour. So now you sleep 10 hours a night. You have a bath around 9:45. We lay you down around 10:30 and you sleep till 8:30. You have about 3 naps a day (they range from 1-2.5 hours each). You fought your naps this week, so I’m hoping this was just a phase. You wanted to be rocked to sleep, but seemed to do fine today and just now when I put your down.
