I went to my 37 week doctor’s appointment today and let’s just say things are going a little differently than I pictured a couple of months ago.
- Baby is Frank Breech (head up, bottom down, feet at face) – not the way he should be at 37 weeks and the chances of him moving head down are 5% at this stage.
- Baby is 7 pounds 5 ounces right NOW! Geez!
- Baby’s head is extremely large – measuring like a baby at 40 weeks!
- I’m 1 cm
- Um and getting “checked” is not cool 🙂
- C-section is looking more likely unless he turns.
So, with all that said, I have to go back to hospital on Thursday and get a procedure done called, EVC (External Cephalic Version). It’s basically where the doctor manually moves the baby head down by pushing and moving my stomach. I will get a “relaxer” for my uterus, but it still will be an uncomfortable procedure. I’m not looking forward to it. It has about a 50% success rate, so hopefully I will be part of that! The risk is that he could go into distress or cord compression, but my doctor has not done a EVC where baby has gone into distress, so I’m not worried. If he does go into distress than they will do a quick c-section (this is why it has to be done at labor/delivery in the hospital). Not ready for a baby on Thursday, so praying it works and baby is fine. He’s SO big though right now that I’m hoping he still has a little room to move. If he doesn’t move, than I’ll most likely be scheduling a c-section soon.
I pictured my “pregnancy story” as my water breaking a little earlier than due date and delivering a small baby. And the ONE thing I did not want was a c-section. Those pictures are definitely different now, but I’m praying this procedure works and the baby is healthy! Please keep me and baby in your prayers. I know it’s a simple procedure, but I’m still nervous. I know the Lord has a plan for this baby and me, so I have to trust that it will be fine and He is in control, no matter how different it might be.
Guess we will be putting the car seat together tomorrow night. Still have so much to do including getting his pack ‘n’ play and swing. And at work…this week and next is completely booked with things to do and get ready for a sub.
No new symptoms, but getting harder to move around and more BH contractions. Can’t wait to meet our baby boy!!!

Praying for you Olivia! I know this isn't what you were hoping for…but however this little guy decides to enter the world, the fact is, that you WILL get to meet him soon. And I promise…getting to see his beautiful face and hold him in your arms will make ALL of this worth it!
