I’m combining two posts today because they go hand in hand. I get asked often, “What do you do all day?” as a work-at-home-mom (all moms work, so I don’t really use the SAHM phrase). I really never know how to answer this question for two reasons: 1. I’m not sure they have 10 minutes to listen to my list of activities that go on daily or if I can even remember all the activities, and 2. It’s never the same.
Last Monday, I was wrapping up my day around 1:00 AM and I thought, “wow, I feel like I’ve really done a lot today.” So, I actually started listing out what I did and thought, this would be a great answer to that question…I’ll share it on my blog. Plus, I love reading what other moms do throughout the day (whether at home or in an office). I’m usually very hard on myself with my “to-do’s” and think “Ugh, I got nothing done today” when in reality, I’ve done a lot. Even if I don’t run any errands or clean, I still have accomplished a ton with preparing food, picking up, playing with B, and working on signs (those are all non-negotiables).
Before I tell you what I did last Monday, I want to preface it with the fact that this was a busy day, even for myself. Most days are not this busy, and some are even busier. Here is what one WAHM does in a day:
–Made Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner of course (crock pot beans with hamburgers, corn on cob, and fruit)
–Washed car
–Got groceries at Sprouts
–Went to Walmart to pick up a few things
–Completed and sent over 15 orders
–Washed and cut lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, grapes, beans and corn
–Cooked and prepared a pasta dish for the week (lunch)
–Made a cookie cake
–Washed/Dried/Folded 3 loads of laundry
–Complete April’s budget and updated May’s
–Cleaned the kitchen 3 separate times
–Cooked dinner (crock pot beans with hamburgers)
–Played with Beckham outside in the backyard
–Registered at Target (only selected a few items)
A few snipets throughout the day…
So that’s some of what I do at home. I try to dedicate “business” during his nap time/after he’s asleep at night and the few hours he’s at preschool 2 days a week (although those have been taken over by appointments). I try to get Beckham to “help” me clean if I need to do a few chores while he’s awake, like vacuuming (he uses his own). Running errands with him is hard, but a necessity…suckers are definitely bribed used. Have stopped working out due to his hatred of the gym. I pretty much don’t get a lot of sleep (5-7 hours), but that’s the phase I’m going through in life right now. Since it’s not reffing season, Ryan actually gets home at a decent time and is able to play with him in the yard and/or do bath. This frees up some time to cook dinner and clean kitchen.

Mine & my husband's plan is for me to stay home when we have kids. Some people are encouraging of it & most are like "What are you going to do all day!?" "Don't you think you'll get bored!?" No – there's more than enough to do in a home & with kids that I don't think I'll be bored or have too much down time. I can imagine there's those lazy days but, everyone has those! I think being a SAHM/WAHM is awesome!!

I get this question ALL the time! In the beginning I took offense to it, but now I let it go in one ear and out the other!
