Sorry I’ve been M.I.A lately. I had a heart to heart with myself this week and decided to spend less time on the computer and actually finish some of the projects in my house that have been stressing me out. Beckham is very mobile now, so my “spare” time is cut down even more. I promised myself I would never let the blog take time away from B. I’ll never get these moments back! Maybe one day I’ll figure out how to manage everything….ha!
Anyway, I wanted to share this gift I made for Ryan for our 5 year anniversary. I wanted to do something more thoughtful, so here’s what I came up with. I think it cost me a total of $30, but you can make it more or less. It’s a year worth of dates for Ryan and I to go on during each month. Most of the months just have the “date idea,” and I added a gift card to some of them. This is where the cost comes into play.
What You’ll Need:
-1/2 inch notebook
-Printer
-12 date ideas
-Gift cards to certain places
-At least 6 plastic page protectors (I used 11 since I added pages)
How You Make It:
It’s pretty self-explanatory (see pictures below), but you basically come up with 12 different date ideas (try to make them compatible with that month), print them out as fancy as you want, and place them in the plastic page protectors. I added a few pages describing each year and a letter explaining what the book was. If there is a gift card that goes with that month’s date, just tape it somewhere on the sheet.
Here you go…

Letter explaining what the book is! |
How it all started… |
I started in September, since I gave it to him in August! The HEART is explaining the significance of that date or an importance of it. |
Breakfast date and The ICE exhibit! |
I added a $10 Starbucks card at the bottom of January. The questions for the “newlywed game” are on the back. |
Newlywed questions and March’s date – Top Golf! |
April – baseball and May – doing what we did on our first date! |
I put some movie tickets I got from one of my students in June’s date card. July – drinks and books, something cool in the hot summer! |
I thought this one up after a lot of thinking! Thought it was neat! This should be fun! |
So there you have it! 12 date ideas, some with money, some without. Here is a close up of a couple of the hearts so you get an idea of what I put in it.
September – Pizza and Puzzle |
December – Gaylord Texan ICE exhibit |
Sorry it’s fuzzy. Revisiting our first date! |

I absolutely adore this idea for date nights. We have a category in our budget for date nights but we can never think of anything creative to do! I might have to steal this idea!!
Stop by sometime and browse my blog. It is random with whatever is happening in my life.

Also thank you so much for the “FEEDING A TODDLER: TONS OF MEAL IDEAS AND RECIPES” post. My daughter became a picky eater suddenly and I don’t know what else to feed her!
